hi,
i want music in the game because a game without a music is not a game !!!!
what is your 3 best bands for the music in the game ??
me, it\'s :
- Nightwish
- lacuna coil
- Therion
-
Ok, let\'s get this straight.
Planeshift is free, and the music in the game must be free too. Do the bands you\'re talking about record music for PS for free?
I don\'t think so.
BTW. I have listened to the bands you were talking about, and I see nothing special about them ?(
I don\'t know if the DEVs have already found musicians who wanna make music for PS yet, but I know that there\'s many good musicians out there, so it\'s just a matter of time...
-
therion are free
but who compose for PS and who play music for PS ???
-
ummm...Planeshift already does have some music, so....?
-
In PlaneShift it would be cool if you had an instrument sorta like the ocarina in zelda and with the instrument you buy in the game you can play lots of cool tunes on it :D . Also, i just got x-box the other day and disovered you can put your own music on the games. PlaneShift should be able to do that too so everyones satisfied with the music on the game.
-
I love morrowind and it\'s soundtrack, but, all the songs have the same basic tune to them, just different intruments and speeds.
-
uhhh, how about ps just lets us play our own .mp3s if we desire, then ps would be the krunkest
-
Uh, \"krunkest\"?
There should be a folder within Planeshift containing the soundtracks so that you can replace them with whatever wish by placing your own songs in that folder.
-
Then what about when music is sappoused to indicate a certin feling or soething, howq would that work out if people changed them
-
It won\'t, so we\'ll just have to deal with it. Its a price someone pays for changing the music.

And who is going to pay the .mp3 license?
PS should better use Vorbis OGG.
-
I believe they already have an MP3 engine, if it\'s licensed or not I don\'t know, because the music in the last version was MP3.
-
Yes, the music in TES: MORROWIND were great, however they were too short for such a huge game. Actually I wanna see music in Final Fantasy style since I really love the FF soundtrack. There is no FF game in the whole serie (exept for FF: mystical quest, which I\'ve never played) that does not contain wonderful music.
I mean, I listen to the music even outside the game, because it makes me feel good. :)
Music does half of the experience (imagine a game without music), so of course the game should be filled with great tunes. ;)
-
All music from MB on is in ogg format.

The MP3 engine is from CS, not PS.
And I don\'t think you can copy a license, like that of MP3, and give it to everyone who needs it (the PS dev team in this case). Even if the CS MP3 engine was licensed.
PS would need to buy his/her own license.
-
If that\'s the case then they don\'t need to even bother with it, there is no need to put your own music in the game, and if you do, turn down music in game and turn on your radio.
-
Yeah, who needs an Mp3 player \"in game\"? Do you really belive that the music in the game is gonna be THAT bad? I\'m pretty sure that the DEVs knows what they\'re doing.
Of course the music in PS will be great (I hope for some memorable game tunes) ;)
-
Nightwish is excellent man!
-
What would be cool, is a radio type of thing (but not radio, magical item)
So you can tune in different stations, including news etc! LOL
-
That\'d be insteresting if you could host your own radio station, and play your own mp3s whatever. Get different people with micraphones and do a talkshow. :D
-
if someone wanted there own music they could just start some mp3 player and turn off in game music. Just play ur own music if you don\'t like the music in game
-
Thats pushing the envelope a little bit isn\'t it?
-
Hmmm... when I can buy/set up most of my equipments this month or next month, maybe I could start making music for PS :P
-
sorry for the late...
it gets the job done voldergrath...
I make music. I used to be in a hip-hop group call Big U.P.\'s (big unsung poets)
we made a total of 5 songs and 30 unfinished tracks before the guy i was working with stole my pc (we were also doing an animation in flash at the time). My handle was M.C. Sho\' Nuff but I also go by M.C. Hitman and just recently A.T.M (Against The Mass\'s) and
UndaGround-Hype... This type of music probable wont fit into the ps style...(or so I figure)but heck if the devs have any since of humor and creativity they could work it in.
-
I would love to hear Enya-style music in PS. It would suit the game perfectly.
When I\'ll get my new sound-card I\'m gonna give it a go :)
EDIT: BTW. The Final Fantasy soundtrack is still the best.
-
Morrowind has great music for the game, the sound is phenomenal.
I believe that someone on the forums has actually volunteered to do music, so that would be good.
-
hmmm ...i dunno, i hear music in PS, and i like it ...it would be great if there was more music in it and instead of only on/off switches some volume controls would be appriciated (i know it\'s a not so easy to do, but no need to rush :) ).
bottom line: PS\'s music is really nice, keep up the good work
btw: if you don\'t like the music, just turn it off in the options, and play a CD/mp3/ogg on your xmms/mp3blaster/winamp/whatever_you_use :]
-
there will be more music in PS as the world becomes much much bigger at least thats what i hope
-
lol, do you guys know how old this thread is?
anyway,
I think we shoud be focused on finding someone who can program 3d sound fx\'s.

nah ...no need for that :]

*Would reply but feels hooks intelligence level deems a reply unnecessary
-
Try replying to this one then...
why are you such a goit?
-
whips out dictionary, then on second thought..
dismiss\'s \"goit\" as just some childish word Mehallie theasaurized (10,000 vocab points) or pulled from his ass to make himself feel better.
-
*solution to all problems*
Get winamp, turn off music in game... Their gonna fix the leak, so just wait till them.
just my 2 bits
-
Well that answered my question...
On to other things: winamp. Even when EQ had it, I never used the bleedin thing. It seemed like an excuse to have cruddy music in the game and not fix it.
-
*notes that if people paid close attention to the whole thread they\'d have realized this answer was given already
-
*notes that some people kept replying and deemed it needed to put it in again :P *
-
I\'ll post as I please, ta much.
There is no \"answer\" or \"final reply\" as we\'re all just \"conjecturilising\" at any rate. The exchange of ideas is rather the point.
I\'d like to hear what the bloke who offered to do some music for the game has to say, but he only posted once and departed.
It\'s not merely the music, but the sound effects in general that I\'d be interested in hearing. Proper sound effects sometimes make all the difference. In Morrowind, the CRUNCH noise of your armour getting pummelled by a mob or a weapon was pretty eye-watering, but then it would be promptly ruined by the stupid \"aaaaahhh\" noises your character would make. There was no attempt to make the Khajit sound like a feline; it quite literally sounded like a woman saying \"Raaaarrrr\". I never understood that, when the music and everything else was so brilliant.
