I'm experiencing crashes every 4-15 minutes and its been happening for a week now does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

kelod what gharin is saying is its giving him no errors of any sort most of the time, i know because the same thing happend to me...then it went downhill from that ( go read my post on crashes ) what i did find however is some trojans are being packed to kill running proces like guild wars starcraft diablo2 planeshift....basicly half the problem is what im thinking is a rather PO'd gammer got band from a game or two packed a trojan sever n massed the thing out
( found it on my system friend found it on his and gharan will probably find one on his )
now that was not the only problem however. after installing if you run the updater it seems to make you crash like this also. im not sure if this is for everyone but that is about half of the problem i found with trial and error methods- mostly error. but i think i might have fixed it up until 5 mins ago system froze. thats most likely just a ram issue tho
ill keep posting as i find more out. and i invite others do to the same
janner your not getting error msgs either ? try minimizing the game and let it crash maybe the planeshift client is hiding the error msg in back. and as soon as ps crashes the error report dies with it

Thank you will give it a try, don't know much about PCs, but shore wife will get t from what you post.

sometimes a uninstall and reinstall of the grafics drivers could help fix some weirdness usually a reinstall is not enough
just something to think about

yeah thats true sometimes things become corrupt for no explainable reason. but mines all fixed now ( well as fixed as its gona be )

How much ram do you have? Is it near 1 gig?
I've noticed people with less ram tend to crash more than those with more ram.
I have no clue how the ram effects this, it's just something i've seen after asking people about crashing.

I'm running xp as well and I get a similar thing happening. I can play for about 5-7 minutes and then the client just closes. No warning, no error message, nothing. I've tried a few of the other suggested fixes, but this doesn't seem to be related to hardware as far as I can tell. I'm running the most recent update of the client, and prior to the update I didn't experience this problem. I can run the client again and am returned to my position just before the crash. But then I can only play for another 5-7 minutes before the client closes again.
I have to say that this issue doesn't make the game very playable.
I'll provide whatever info I can on this, but I'm at a loss as to where to start looking...

Disabling sound in the planeshift setup seems to resolve the issue of constant crashes. Another thread suggested playing with the sound/hardware acceleration in windows control panel - I'll try this next. Possibly an issue specific to the background music? This seems to be the only thing I have turned on when the sound isn't muted.
