I had a curious desire to revisit Planeshift this afternoon, and I was elated when I saw the progress that had been made. The presentation made at Crystal Space looked, from what I could see, fantastic. Bravo Planeshift team! I hope that soon I may be able to visit the planeshift site with a faster computer to test the new updates.
However... there is an anomaly I need explained. What the hell is "Ecksdee"? xD
That last set of characters was not a shortening of the prototype. It was instead a reference to my extreme delight, knowing of a game of such sheer audacity to name their peice as a commonly used expression of wide grin.
I mean, just think of the conversations!
Dude1: Hey, do you know any good MMo's to play?
Dude2: XD!
Dude1: Come again?
Dude1: What are you playing?
Dude2: XD!
Dude1: Looks like you're having fun; what's the name of it?
Dude2: XD.
Dude1: Look, if you don't want to talk to me, that's cool. But if you're just going to mock me these expressions...
I could only see one photo from the conference website on the ambiguously derived racing title, and frankly my curiousity is not yet satisfied. Any word on when I could play XD? XD

I too have heard of this XD. As for more information...
Well there's the xD site: http://ecksdee.sourceforge.net/wiki/wiki/Main_Page
At the moment Ecksdee is race around the clock and has several ships and 2 tracks to play on (another one coming soon). Joypad/joysticks are supported. There is an energy counter, turbos, afterburners, airbrakes, brakes and a primitive work in progress weapon system.
It is also possible to build levels and ships in blender and export them easily for racing on.
Does look interesting, but I don't think it's an MMO.
More shots (from Orogor's level) (http://ecksdee.sourceforge.net/wiki/wiki/Orogor_level_pre-release)
