outside the city walls in wide open areas i can see through the floor and little geenies jump out of the holes and hit people with hammers. well...there isnt geenies but there is holes. i cant fall through them. they just seem to be missing panels of graphics. they are in a pattern so its not just random missing panels. i have 2 pics here. tell me what u think is wrong.

System specs and graphics drivers versions please.
-
Also, have you tried updating to your latest graphics drivers for your video card?
-
If you still see the black textures after installing the latest graphics driver for your video card, you should startup Planeshift with -relight in the shortcut.
Example:
F:\Development\planeshift\psclient.exe -relight
It'll take a fair amount of time to relight the map (okay, hours for big areas like Bronze Doors) but the map will be normal again.
Don't forget to take the -relight out again after relighting, because else it will keep relighting the maps.
Good luck :)
-
im having the same problem..i dont think its my graphics card..cuz ive played befor and it was fine..i tried the relight..are you supposed to do that when your in the zone that needs fixing?or do you need to load world then zone load to the zone that needs fixing?
-
Please read ThomPhoenix's example. He does a great job showing to use the switch when starting psclient. You arent even in-game at that point.
-
i did that.
-
Right-click on your PlaneShift shortcut, Click Properties, then type -relight at the very end of the Target Path, with a space in between that and the file path already there. Then use the shortcut to start PlaneShift.
-
Also note, the first answer on here was for electric-demon to post his system and video card specs. These are very important and shouldve been the first step taken. Unfortunately, he hasn't read/responded to any of the posts yet. There could be system-dependant issues that require us to see the specs.
-
so it could still be my graphics card and stuff?even though its worked befor?and every time i try to relight after the world loads all i get is a white screen and planeshift stops responding.how do i check my graphics stuff?
-
Use the command "dxdiag" in windows and read http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=21401.0 for the report format. Thank you.
-
what do you mean..im sorry to be a bother..im just not that computer orientated
-
In the Windows "Run..." command, type dxdiag. In the window that comes up, click on the Display tab. There you will see what kind of card you have, and the driver version you are using.
-
k chip type is: intel(R) 82845G Graphics controler.
and ikm not sure but i think the driver version is: ialmrnt5.dll version:6.14.0010.3889 (english)
that what im looking for?
-
where is the system report thing that i have to post, and how do i 'install the latest updates for my graphics drive'
-
Let us know what kind of card you have as well :] I assume you understand the instructions for finding this information. Once you know your card type, go to the manufacturer's website and download the most recent drivers. They are free updates.
For NVidia, visit www.nvidia.com (http://www.nvidia.com)
For ATI, visit www.ati.com (http://www.ati.com)
For anything else, use www.Google.com (http://www.Google.com) to find the correct manufacturer address.

Helping two people at the same time is confusing ;)
To the guy who said -relight crashed his PS; that is normal.
It will start to relight at the point where it loads the map, you see the blue loading bar move and then when it freezes it starts to relight the map.
Sometimes the PS window will become completely blank and it will seem that it crashed. It hasn't however. Just be patient as it can take really long depending on the size of the map and your pc.
What I always do:
Go to the map that needs relighting while NOT using -relight in the shortcut.
Log out.
Add -relight to the shortcut.
Start Planeshift and log-in.
Wait for relighting to complete (can take long)
Shutdown Planeshift
Remove -relight from shortcut.
Log-in again to have a freshly relighted map.
To the guy who had an Intel Intergrated Graphics card:
That's not even a real graphics card, buy a real one for 50$, it'll spare you tons of issues now and in the future.
To the same guy that still hasn't posted his pc specs:
As was said 3 times already use Start-->Run-->dxdiag.
Post the stuff that's under System and Video (something like that, use your imagination)
Read the threads that Rolenun and Karyuu linked to for more info.

Yeah, its the graphics card. I have that same card on my pc at work. But I don't play there much because...well...its work and I'm not supposed to. :-[ So since its not really my pc, I have no choice. But yeah, for anyone who has that card and that problem, I don't think even the latest drivers will fix it. I've done that but its still that way. Your only hope is to get a better card.
-
man that blows..why did it work befor?
-
Again, you can try adjusting the settings of Planeshift and downloading the latest drivers.
-
k i got the latest version of my chip and i relighted..how do i set the planeshift options..and what should i change?im redownloading..this time im using the bittorrent way..it takes alot longer then the other way..why is that?now for some reason..every time im on like after 15 mins my computer shuts down..but only when ps is up
-
i dont hav a graphics card, i hav 'intergrated' graphics
-
Unfortunately, unless you have at least 64MB on a video card / chipset, you're not meeting the minimum requirements for the game. Integrated graphics chipsets fall into this "below minimum" category.
-
how do i set the planeshift options..and what should i change?
In your Start menu: -->Programs-->Planeshift Crystal Blue-->Planeshift Setup.
You can try lowering the resolution, disabling VBO, set antialiasing and anisotropic filtering to 0 and you can disable multisampling. You can downsample the textures too, but that will look ugly.
im redownloading..this time im using the bittorrent way..it takes alot longer then the other way..why is that?
Bittorrent doesn't use fast servers, instead you're downloading from tons of people's pc's at the same time. If it's slow that means either your modem/firewall is blocking the connections (bittorrent is sensitive to that) or that simply not much people are uploading at the moment.
now for some reason..every time im on like after 15 mins my computer shuts down..but only when ps is up
It's possible your pc is so bad, it gets overheated and the fail-safe shuts it down. I had it too on my old pc.

ok..i have 64 mb..does that count?and my computer is fairly new.and i dont thinks thats why it shuts down..and thanks for telling me what to set in setup..ill try that now
...why do you think it worked befor?..omg what did i do?now its not missing pannles..instead its darker then normal..but with no missing pannles..it getts dark where i move..but not as dark when i was missing pannles..navigating is so much easier!..strange..
-
I don't really understand, maybe you can post a screenshot?

thats it..like i said its alot better then missing pannles..but if i can fix it altogether that would be great

I'd try running with --fullbright instead of --relight. See if that clears things up - there will be no shadows no ambient light, etc but it will help debug. My guess though is that that card of yours doesn't like opengl that much and a newer version of planeshift uses some new opengl features that the old one didn't . Specifically libCG stuff. I'd run in fullbright, and if that doesn't work consider a new card. Your card isn't much good for alot of things anyways. :D
