I have something to say about Naming Policies (http://www.planeshift.it/naming.html)
I know that there shouldn't be offensive or vulgar names (first rule)
But what about offensive o vulgar names in other languages,
like f e s s o or g n o c c o in italian which means i d i o t
or h é b é t é e in french which means s t u p i d ??
today I crossed with a character named "Pelotudazo"
In spanish this means "with big testicles" but meaning of " s t u p i d " or " i d i o t "
I know that GMs or Devs doesn't have to speaks many languages to control every char's name,
but I propose that every person who detects a vulgar name in any language,
please report them like says this thread (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=20771.0) by PM or Mail.
so everybody can enjoy this awesome game.
Let me say something for those spanish players:
No arruinen un buen juego tan solo por querer ser chistosos!
(Don't ruin a good game just for being funny)
Greetings

Any offensive or rude name, no matter what language it's in, will be renamed. Of course we need help from other players on this :]
The preferable way of notifying GMs of bad names is using the /petition system.

although some people may make up a name and not realise its even a word in another language.

Thank you Miadon, Its true indeed that you say!
But since PS is about medieval ages, names has to do with it... and Pelotudazo doesn't sound medieval like.
Miadon sound medieval... and many that I think right now: Tiero, Agladors, Prosenio, Agtabor, Luniux, Fegoriod, Balmodor, and others...
Even I saw names in this forum imitating Tolkien's names and is good too, like Bilbous.
I think this is roleplay, medieval roleplay... and its names have to be medieval.
If don't like the generator from the game, you could use generators like offers the Cris Wetherell's page on elvish (http://www.chriswetherell.com/elf/) and hobbit (http://www.chriswetherell.com/hobbit/) names.
Please tell me if I'm wrong! ??? :sweatdrop:
