well, I would like a map, but not on the HUD, just something you buy in the store and it sits in your inventory for you to look at when you need it, you could possibly be able to make marks on it to remember special locations, like your house or a friends house or something.

i think we established that there is no way that you could make or buy a map of anything conserning  the areas that you could adveture in, a map of the city would be good

how \'bout we make our own maps.  And a wizard eye spell would be kinda ill conceived and useless in this sense.  What would it show.  NPCs and PCs around a character when you can just look around.  Its not like there is stuff just lying around on the ground, or even traps that you would need to see with it... it would be a whole lot of useless.  I intend on making and (possibly) selling maps of areas with my character (in the distant future when it is possible of course), and overhead maps like in might and magic would just be odd in this kind of game.

The only maps I disagree with, is dungeon maps. however town maps wouldn\'t ruin the game. If the maps actually had a legend to tell you which building is which, they would be nice. Dungeon maps are right out though.

Who says a map of the tunnels need be complete or even accurate?  ;)

Surely, the large hunting families would have been exploring long enough to pass something on to the next generation.  However, they would never consider leaking such information to their competitors...
