Hi everyone,
I've been trying to play planeshift for some months now, always waiting that this bug would get fixed with some update but unfortunately it still exists.
Every ~30 seconds the game freezes for up to one minute (sometimes even longer) making it completely unplayable. Other than that the game runs fine (I think).
These "freezes" are often accompanied by some funky camera movements, once they are over (like the camera zooming in from 500m away or making some strange twists and turns).
I'm running on Gentoo Linux, kernel version 2.6.16 and nvidia-drivers version 1.0-9625 (I had the same problem with older drivers/kernels).
I downloaded and installed the binaries from planeshift.it, and of course I ran the updater. Like I said, other than those "freezes" the game runs smoothly.
The game doesn't print any errors or the like when run from the console (at least nothing that seems fatal - I can post some of planeshift's output if you want).
Can somebody help me with this? It's really frustrating. :'(

I'm going to take a wild stab and guess that you have an Nvidia GeForceFX 5200 Ultra AGP video card. Is this correct or do I know look like a moron? :D

Sorry, it took me so long to respond.
My graphics card is an nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4200. Is there a known problem with the GeForceFX? Maybe this applies to my card as well. ???

Its possible - I have that problem too but it only exists on my 5200 - not on the geforce4 that is in my wife's pc, but it isn't a ti. No idea how to fix it. :(

Buy a new video card ;D, have you had a go with a 2.4 kernel?
