I have noticed that alot of people have made their own drinks in Planeshift asides from the in game ale, beer, cider and red liquor. I just thought I'd ask the community as a whole what they drink in game. Wine? Cocktails? Anything. So... do tell! :)

Wine for Shang.
Oh, and I forgot, she drinks tea too.
-
But if someone ICly asked you what vinyard it was from or of what vintage it was how would you answer? And what is your tea brewed from. This is where we get stuck and have to agree on certain things. Although I'd love to be able to have a bottle of wine at Kada's I don't even know if grapes will be implemented.

I'm of the opinion that generic items are fine but that specific types of those items should not be earthly. There for beer or ale would be fine but a pilsner or a bock would not. I have only drank two kinds of liquids in the game, potions and water.

...well, we have beer and ale, and I have never seen a field of hops. Why could we not have wine or tea? Just because the things aren't around on the level we have access to "right now" doesn't mean they don't exist. We would also have to have some sort of flour ...for pie and bread. We don't have those, but we have the items made from them. I would assume they are being grown on another level.

or come from traders on the surface or below the huge cavern the stalactite is in.

There is no interaction between the surface world and Yliakum, nor below it for the current time.

Since PS is supposed to be more original than other games, in other words "unusual" to our world, two things come to my mind
1) coffee
2) tea
So popular that some people can't imagine a world without them. But it is almost no reason a at why we should have these in PS. The reason is maybe hidden.
Coffee and tea are words defining very wide range of meanings. First, maybe i'm wrong but coffee is generally made of seeds and tea from leaves. When we speak about these, it doesnt necessary need to be made from beans of the coffee plant or leaves and leaf buds of Camellia sinensis. There are different kinds of seeds and leaves.
I think PS should have plants for each of these, so that we can have actually coffee and tea, but made from somethink else than 90% of people think the coffee and tea are only made off.
So coffee and tea are fine for me as long as they dont refer to earth originated plants ;) and the drinker should know the plant he/she is drinking ;)
same goes about brewerages, wines... and so on.
EDIT, Yay! A ring, i love rings \o/

learn something everyday.... even if it is about some fictional world with no real purpose in the real world :p :)

Ulber milk. Sometimes with a touch of rum. :sorcerer:
-
I remember having Golden Hammer and Dwarven Dark, both dwarven brews. I don't know who came up with those names but they have a good kick. The rest is just a blur...
-
may as well toss my usual mulled rum in there. now there is a drink for the depths of winter. and for the deep damps of the stone labyrinth.
-
Plain water: odorless, tasteless and clear. Easy for Sangwa to detect any substances on it.
Gotta be careful with Garile around. :P
-
White Enkies!!!
A play on white russians. Not my idea but, it's almost all I drink.
(White Russians: Khalua, Vodka and milk/light cream. Tastes like chocolate milk with a touch of pure joy.)
-
I'm familiar with that one now! ;)
-
Haha, and then there is "The Quest"
Don't let Moon give you that. It's an evil drink! >:|

Everyone knows that dwarves are the best brewers. ;D
Beer (whether ale or lager), in theory, could be made from any type of grain. It wouldn't neccessarily have to be barley, wheat, rye, or any other grain specific to the real world, just some sort of 'grainy' plant. I would assume that in Yliakum beer is made from the same grains as the breads since the processes to make both are nearly the same. They both require yeast (or maybe Yliakum just has some other bacteria similar to yeast). The main differences are that the grain is ground up into flour for bread while only cracked and soaked in water for beer and bread is a heck of a lot thicker. ;)
Hops is somewhat optional and used for bitterness, aroma, and as a natural preservative. Again, Yliakum could just have a leafy plant with properties similar to what we know of as hops. This same leafy plant could also be used for tea. Who knows. We may have walked right past a patch of this plant while taking a stroll in the hills and just not recognized it for what it is.
-
Now we just have to sit tight and wait for it to be named! ;)

I like Harvey Wallbangers but I don't think you can get galliano in game. I did see some Frangelico but I don't know what kind of coctail you could make with that. There is no real hard liquor yet either unless the cider is distilled and not just fermented.

Wine isn't made only from grapes, there are many diffrent kinds of wine (apple wine anyone?), and wine isn't that hard to make on one's own; indeed it's much easier to make than beer/ale/etc. Likewise, teas can be made from any kind of leaves.
Since I'm not sure what crops are grown in Yliakum, I would be hard pressed to come up for an answer for Shang to give as to what kind of tea or wine she drinks; but as others have noted, I've never seen hops fields, wheat fields, etc in Yliakum either.

I have been drinking blackcurrant apple mix wine
Also, look at this ;P

what basicaly means strong fruity wine ;P
-
I gotta add, we may not be talking quality products here either.
If Shang was asked what vineyard, the person doing the inquiring would probably get something that amounts to a blank look from her in answer. A response to a question regarding vintage would be probably be something along the lines of, "Last week?"

Beer grows on tree's in planeshift.
Duuuh..... :whistling:
