Title: The Prophet of Talad
Post by: Dalat Tabei on November 06, 2006, 12:26:15 pm
[RP]

"A Kran enters the Hydlaa Plaza with an almost delirious smile on his face. He attracts the attention of the crowd of people around the blacksmith. This Kran has not been seen before. He looks around at the Blacksmith Parlour. He is wearing modest rags, he carries a light backback with holes in the bottem and a straw hat. He is prehaps around 2.5 meters tall and has extremely rare minerals embeded in his neck. He has a various number of glowing Glyphs in a sack slung over his back. He smiles at the mixture of races around him and speaks, 'My friends...Salvation is come...'"

Background of Dalat Tabei
This Kran, called Dalat Tabei, claims to the son of Talad. A Prophet sent by the great being himself to warn the inhabitants of Yliakum about the coming of Talads judgement and to sway the peoples loyalty to Lannx, who Dalat descibes as a traitor and an imposter. Whether you decide to believe Dalat and follow his teachings is up to you [Use your characters personality].

You have heard rumours about the Kran performing amazing feats, that he has travelled beyond Yliakum and the Labyrinths and even that he prevented a dwarf from dying of the Hammerwielder Flu.

[The rest is up to you and your characters mind]  :innocent:

(OOC: Please add a reply saying how your character will react to give me an idea of the general consensus) :whistling:

*Holdan greets the newcomer, but with a hint of caution, none the less he views this kran as nothing more then a healer, and thus doesn't mind his stay in hydlaa.*

After selling the axe to Harnquist, Eagel pass infront this Kran and look at him, raise his eyebrow and think: "So many races, so many languages, so many religions under the Azure Sun... I'm not a believer, but I respect them. I hope he continue his labor helping others..."
Eagel grab his falchions and leads to Hydlaa doors, He must reach Oja Road...*

thinks "This Kran will have to prove himself to be true, and not another seeking only their own gain, humm perhaps this one is worth keeping an eye on. Though how a Kran can be the son of Talad  in a different way than any other Kran remainds a mystery and a source of suspicion."

/me laughs at the poor Kran who must've gotten dillusional because of the long trip: "Religion is for weaklings".

[OOC]
"and to sway the peoples loyalty to Lannx" must be "and to sway the people's loyalty from Laanx"

[I'm impressed by this if only for the reason that he's taken extreme care to present himself as someone who is merely claiming to be Talad's prophet.  I will keep my roleplaying restricted to in-game.]

Kae'lith snorts, rolling her eyes and turning her cheek like a disgusted schoolgirl.  Religion has never interested her—if a god never did anything for her, why should she owe it her life?  "I don't understand these...religious types," she mumbles, more to herself than anyone else, "If someone can't think for themselves, they should just stop thinking at all."

OOC
Just to answer to all the OOC posts and reply to IC posts.

[dalat, krans can max be 2.1 meters tall :)]

/me breaks his meditation and smiles a bit at the kran and his aura before watching him curiously "Hmm, might watch this one" he thinks and relaxes trying to learn more from his aura

This is what can cause suspicion and fear, the fact that he is extremely tall.

_____________

Indygo wonders how a kran, an asexual being, could be the son of anyone let alone Talad himself.

He claims to be grown from the "Soil of Talad" (stop nitpicking)

_____________

/me is disappointed at his lack of desire to reconcile Talad and Laanx.

He says that Lannx is a traitor and a trickster. That Lannx has no place in Yliakum for not forgiving Talads mistake and Lannx's jelousy of Talad.

_____________

*stood at a Hydlaa plaza, "This is nothing more but an imposter!" he shouted, "Laanx is the true god! The iron temple stands as a momument to his greatness!"

Dalat turns to Gyerfry and says, "The Iron tample is a symbol of how the god of the crystal has seduced the inhabitants through trickery and fear. Hydlaa is the place of Talad, let it stay his." Dalat turns away to tand to the furnace.

*Gyerfry grunts at the reply, "It was the sheer incompitanceof your god that caused Laanx such trauma. Maybe Talad is the one to appologise. That is my stand right now. I follow Laanx out of my own free will!" He leened over, "Son of Talad, if only our gods were at piece..... This debate wouldn't even happen.... I do belive you when you say you are infact his son." He took a drink of his water, getting lost in thought.

OOC: you shouldnt run around saying you are a king of something unless people agree to that and it turns to be a decent RP like "Xillix's Ochtarc Play" or something like it anyway and who elected you kind certainly not me

[No one elected Xillix, very few people agreed to Xillix being Octarch, and there were major problems with the RP surrounding that whole mess.  The devs stepped in and basically said "This is wrong.  You cannot do this.  This never happened."]

OOC: Just to make it clear, Dalat is claiming that he is the king of the Kran and their saviour. To make a biblical example, Jesus claimed to be King of the Jews. Dalat is not exactly claiming to be their ruler as such, he is saying it as their saviour and Talads representation.

IC: "You should not mutter, it is the height of rudeness."

[Jesus was crucified under a sign that said he was the king of jews, though I can't find where Jesus himself is recorded saying it, you might want to read John 19:18-22 for some interesting things about it.

But let's not turn this into a religious discussion, this should be kept on-topic. :)

IC as Xeraans Shekiath.

"I do not doubt what he has said, this Kran." A voice shouted out near the edge of the crowd. There stood a tan and white enkidukai, garbed in a hunter's leather clothing. Strung over his small shoulders was a longbow. A few people look his way, questioning his sudden and full faith in the one who recently claimed to be the 'son' of a god.
"Is it not written in the books of lore, that the beings known as Kran were born of the solid ground, by the God Talad?" he takes off his bow, and relaxes a bit. "If you do not believe me, go to the libraries and read yourself! (http://www.planeshift.it/setting_history.html)

"But of course, that is if you believe in Gods in the first place..."

[OOC: This is, of course, assuming that -some- version of the history is in our history books.. as people go around claiming they know how far Yliakum is under the ground.]

Dalat smiles at Xeraans, "You will be rewarded when the Lord of the Rock comes down to pass judgement." Dalat sits under tree and closes his eyes.

Post by: Laris on November 15, 2006, 02:32:11 pm
Larisma Bixie slowly looks up from her forge at the Kran. She turns her head back to the forge to try to formulate a well-thought reply. After about 30 seconds, she turns her head up again. "Dare I say that I do not take up a religion. I give you simply this reason: If there is not a deity, or surpreme being, then why should one have spent a very big portion of their life to worship a being that doesn't exist? And if there is, how could He make it so that one's fate is decided; this is against the basic right of life: Will. So I give to you, fair Kran, that even if you were the son of Talad, what does it matter? I believe it is a worthless symbol. Please go about singing it to the Earth, but it does not matter to I, nor any person in this Plaza; the only reason that anyone would think it matters is out of fear, which is not an effective way to rule at all." Larisma looks back to her forge, cusses at the overheated Steel, gets it out and tries to quench it.

Olympias listens with head tilted for a few moments before striding quickly to Jayose to procure both pen and paper. She returns as quickly as intended and settles, albeit uncomfortably, on the ground. The rough surface texture of the ground scratches her soft turquiose skin. With confident, bold strokes she deftly completes an outline of the Kran and begins to fill the outline with words. It is simple word association, but it helps to develop character. Before ten minutes has passed the outline is filled with scrawlings and Olympias is satisfied that she understands the Kran better than when she started. Knowing that it will be some time before the questions of the gathered horde are answered, the Nolthrir settles down to repair her favourite long sword. She is looking forward to a quiet word with the infamous Kran and the possibility of expanding on her collection of epic adventures. Before she finishes with the weapon her mind has already wandered to the places he must have travelled and the people he must have seen. And then her thoughts drift to the way to tell the things he has seen that she hasn't, to make the people believe her. To spin the words so as to create a delicate cloth as all encompassing as the heavens, as wise as the priests and as bright as the crystal.

Tyrnal watches the crowd from a dark corner, scanning the faces of the people. When his eyes cross with the prophet he stops for a moment. It is not the face he is looking for but ... this face has something familiar. Something he used to believe in not too long ago.

For some reason the former guard decides to pause his search and wait to hear what this Prophet has to say.

(OOC: Glad to see that not much has changed yet since I left. We're mostly still only interested in RPing our own heroic appearances without bothering to help in the development of others' stories. And religion is still as repulsive as ever ... in a world where gods actually meddle in the affairs of mortals and magic lives among us)

[Well, the gods have actually made appearances in game, and when they have, it was for good.  So while I think it's completely valid to RP someone who mistrusts the gods, I think that you should be prepared for your character one day changing his or her mind.]

Humbug. They are not gods. They are merely extremely powerful sorcerers with some god-like powers. I'll believe they are gods when I see circles fall like raindrops from the sky and golden apples grow on tree-sized mushrooms.

Please don't tell them I said so.

By the way, he only thought he created us. We were here from the beginning, one with the firmament. He merely called us out and gave us our form.
