Title: Extreme sport: Regas
Post by: Gyerfry Stoemsaber on November 07, 2006, 11:17:02 pm
Regas(reegAs) is a game played in teams. Each player gets a regas stick, used to play. Each team has a hoop. Each team tries to get a cork ball in the opposite team's hoop, while protecting theirs.

REGAS STICK
The stick has two sides to it, one side, called the net end, has a net to hold the ball in. The other end is the bat end. You use this end to hit the ball. You ca't hold the ball in your hand. It must be in the net end of your stick. But you can take the ball and throw it with your hand.

PASSING/THROWING THE BALL
when you get the ball, you get thre little buttons at the bottum of the screen. One says Throw, another CAtapult, and the last one, bat. After chooseing one, you get a little button on you chars head. You hold the mouse there and pull back. The farther back you pull, the more powerful the throw will be. You can ajust the angle by moving the mouse.

THROWING
If you choose this your char will take the ball and throw it.

CATAPULTING
If you choose this, your char will "catapult" the ball with the net end.

BATTING
If you choose this, your char will throw the ball upwards, and bat it as it comes down.

EQUIPMENT
The equipment is leather armor. You also need a pair of regas boots, which hover. They can go up to fifty meters high. Oviously you are suppose to be hovering in this game, but you can go on the ground and walk. The hoop is floating at thirty meters high though.

CATCHING THE BALL
You only need to go into it as long as no one else has it and you will scoop it up with your net end.

STEALING THE BALL
You can right click the persn with the ball, and if you are close enough, it will attempt to tap the stick to make the person drop he ball.

WHY?
Cause it would make PS even more fun.

Sounded good till I got to the hovering part.
Sounds like a worse version of Harry Potter.

Even in magical world, there are some rules.
Next thing we will see is ring of no need of breathing? We can't live with no oxygen, but wo cares
or magic wings, attach them to your back, and you can fly like a bird, how simple.

World is far more complicated than you think. Keep it in mind.

Actually a ring of stasis would qualify as no need to breathe, how you might use it is another matter. A ring that surrounds you with a bubble of breathable air is not the same but could be used in some of the same places. Just how are the more air-bound races supposed to survive in the submarine cities of the water breathers?

Magical flight is a staple of fantasy fiction. I would not be suprised to see some form implimented in PS.

You must mean Klyros, I fail to see what else creature you could have in mind. So i answer your question. Klyros breath not because of some weird air bubble around their head, but because they have both gills and lungs. Ylians don't breath with oxygen dissolved in the water, because lungs can't do it.

If you start explaining everything by magic i can as well have ring of nuclear armagedon which i can use every 10 minutes.

I think the less you know about the world around you, the more you want magic to solve all your problems... I have no words

Actually I was thinking of the aquatic elves whatever they are called. I am sure there will be some means for a dwarf, for example, will be able to visit the underwater towns etc.

I'm pretty sure Nolthrirs have also both gills and lungs.
Here you go: (it sometimes good to read the main PS site^^)
Quote
Nolthrirs an amphibious race, with webbed fingers and both gilled and pulmonary respiration.

But the breathing dwarves.... well in my example i exactly stated "no need of breathing", so no breathing a all, not some walk around, which in fact involve breathing...
And i will repeat myself third time.
All i ask is to not come up with magic soilutions, everytime you have problem with something. If you think so, its a best proof that you shouldn't be a mage ever. To play a character, you need some knowledge too.

actualy lets look at he places where earth people can go 4.5 (i level is MOSTLY submerged) levels to explore + the labirynths + Kadaikos (if ever re-discovered)+the surface (if EVER discovered) so seing that Kran can only be with Noltir and Klyros in 2.5 levels kinda makes you whining about litle room seems stupid  (no offense intended)
oh and you wandered to a good level of  :offtopic: in surprisingly few posts (no offense again)

I don't think so.

I personaly think it would be much cooler as a sort of field sport. Nearly every culture that exists has one. Why not Planeshift? Like football, soccor, gealic football, rugby etc.

Edit: Thats just my opinion. Asides from that its good. I'm not trying to diss your idea.

Yeah, but I was trying to make the sport unique.

I think it already was. A net on a stick! The more I think about it sans flying the more I like it actually.

A net on a stick

Sorry, but I must point out 2 RW games, 1st is the most well known, Basketball, obviously this has a backboard and doesnt reach to 30 metres in the air. The other is Netball, a game mainly played in the UK, mainly by girls and women (I loved to play this game and was devestated in my youth (aged 11) that I could not play it any longer, something to do with it being unfair on the girls...... meh) basically, for those who dont know the sport it is effectively basketball without the backboard. btw it is also not 30 meters tall.

Ever heard of lacross? It has a net on a stick.

I'm talking about the Regas stick which the players hold. Not the net they put the ball in. I'm not to familiar with lacrosse although I know the name.
I can only imagine a Kran playing a sport with young girls... Poor girls  :P

They "dribble" by putting the ball on their net end in Regas and in lacrosse. Cept in Lacrosse the stick doesn't have a bat end.

Well, it probably theoretically does. it just isn't used as such.

And yeah, the hover does sound Harry Potter-esque and hard to control and think of the mana needed to pull that off... it boggles the mind.

Lol. It isn't the same as regular magic. The boots themselves are enchanted to fly. You will use up your mana by flying faster, AKA running mid-air. When you walk mid-air, no mana used.
