Post by: Tarel on November 21, 2006, 01:11:48 am
There is a new version for Planeshift again.
This one is working, according to all information i have.

You can download it currently, when you are able to download torrent-files.

Linux users can use this torrent: http://laanx.fragnetics.com/bt/PlaneShift_CBV0.3.017.bin.torrent

And will the updater do the job or do we have to download everything again?

I deleted the previous download and start a new one, when the update is availible again.
Personally i like a full and good download, without any problem.

Edit: I have added the new link in the first post.

Btw, you won't be able to connect to the server yet, even with this new package. Server should come available within the next day, we need to do a bit more poking around on it first.

Also 224 mb here.
Title: Re: Release of PlaneShift_CBV0.3.017b
Post by: neko kyouran on November 21, 2006, 04:04:42 am
Size: 224 MB (235,072,392 bytes)

Size on disk:  224 MB (235,073,536 bytes)

Description:  PlaneShift_CBV0.3.017b

Note: I haven't finished dling it hrough Bittotrent, but azureus, when it first gets the torrent, will make the file to what it is supposed to be on disk with random data, then as it downloads, eplaces the random data with the reall data.  So it mat work for me when it finished, but looking at this, probably won't.

I can't really help much with this, bit torrent is blocked for me. I guess you'll have to wait until Talad wakes up and takes a look.... or get the linux one :P

Title: Re: Release of PlaneShift_CBV0.3.017b

The torrent appears to be faulty - D/L it using 3 different clients, with nVidea firewall disabled/activated, no anti-virus software active, etc, and all copies give NCRC error - and it can't be run using the /ncrc command line either.. X-/
Guess we wait for an uncorrupted version  :o

Should be a few days max. Could even be tomorrow. It really depends on what problems dfryer runs into when he builds.

It might not be until tonight I'm afraid. Talad thinks he knows the problem but needs to check more when he comes back from work. Until then we'll be making use of the time to do more testing on the server :) The server should stay up so everyone (basically the linux users) who has access right now can stay on.

Heh, the first time (at least sincce I've been here) that the linux client got a chance to play with things before the others.

If it goes the same way for the mac client next update, I'll be looking for the DR to freeze over.  ;)

Yay!
/me looks in ave as the avarage download speed is ~130KB/s
Even though my limit is 60KB/s i download with 20KB/s, while i started with my max. (my ISP, hehe)
What i wonder is where from do you people get such a high upload, so that people may download with avarage 130KB/s ;o
My max upload is 16KB or so x)

EDIT: Fuuny, as the avarage download is dropping, mine is rising.

How do I use BitTorrent?
Title: Re: Release of PlaneShift_CBV0.3.017 (correct version now)
Post by: bilbous on November 21, 2006, 06:20:16 pm
Once you have the bittorrent client installed it should be as easy as downloading the .torrent file and opening it in the bittorrent client whichever it is and telling it where to save. If you have a firewall you may need to open some ports to enable the data to flow. An alternative to this may be to set the client to use a port that is already open. XP has a firewall as do some anti-virus packages.
