I went to update my client today(As in i press the update button), it seemed to work, but then it failed at the last 90% saying that i didn't have any mirrors.
So i go back in game, and all my shortcuts are erased.
What gives?

It's always a good idea to keep a backup of such things - I have my shortcuts saved to another location as well, just in case of these situations.

I agree, never new how to though, didn't know which file it was.
Can anyone give me a quick explanatioin of how to do that?

The file to back up is called shortcutcommands.xml, and it's in your \data\options folder.

I had one other problem as well, Half of the people in my friends list have disappeared as well.
Not sure exactly why?
I doubt i'll get them back, so how can i also back up that info?

Unfortunately, there's no way to export the names on your buddy list into a document at the moment.

It's okay, i meet most of those people every week, so i can rebuild it.

That is really bizarre, where are the names stored, in an encrypted file?

Hey guys, I think my shortcuts haven't fully disappeared.
After my first faulty update, they were gone, but their Settings werent.
As in, The KEYS that make them up are still in use, but when i press them, those keys don't work, meaning the commands are gone.
Here's what i mean.
I went to create a new Shortcut, to Mine Gold, I use the "/" button to mine gold.
I went to enter "/" as my Shortcut, but it gave me an error saying, / is already in use by shortcut number 20.

ONe more problem.
My client told me there were NEW UPDATES again, so i tried to update, and this time it worked.
This update is REALLY big as well, is this normal?
Is there really another update?
Or is my client buggy?

Can someone help me and chaz out?
My shortcuts are really buggy, i can't use any of them.
Each time i try to assign, the same button they were on, It keeps saying that button is already assinged to shortcut number, 20, or 30, or some other random number.
Then i when i go to clear shortcut 20, it STILL won't let me use that Key.
Currently i'm typing everything, i have no shortcuts, and i can't make any.
Need help a.s.a.p

Open your "C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\data\options" folder and delete or move away files controls.xml and shortcutcommands.xml. That should fix the problem with bugged shortcuts.
Once you have recreated your shortcuts, make a backup copy of these two files in case you need to restore them in the future.

The buddy list is stored in the server's database.
It always gets retrieved from the server when you load up the game.

Indeed, the installer and the updater often update files which should not be overwritten if they already exist. And if there are new features to be added (e.g. new sections in config files), those sections should be inserted.
After each update, I have once again to re-place all my GUI windows inside the application window, and exchange several skin files (because I prefer different font faces and sizes here and there...).
