The problem happened in almost the same time of the post. I've made 14 molten irons and no practice points in metallurgy were given. Is it a wide problem or a simple relogin will solve it?
Note: my actual level is 3. And fully trained(With that green bar almost full)
Also another player told me the forge have the same problem as well.

It may be that you have reached the point where it no longer qualifies for xp, try casting it into stocks.
-
This is correct ... no experience points are being given for melting iron
I have two characters one with level 4 and one with level one in metallurgy
Today each character melted 100 ores and neither got any experience points ..... and yes both had the working with stock book in their minds!
-
I dont think you can cast stocks until level 5, or at least you couldnt previously. And you could train it by melting ore up to level 5 I believe. Maybe things have changed.... they have a habit of doing that ;)
-
I have a feeling that there is a bug here somewhere. The problem seems a bit bigger than just this. As of about 12 hours ago at least (have not re-tested it since), it was possible to smelt ore and cast ingots with 'nothing in mind' and without completing the required quest either.

That's part of the new crafting updates. Some basic items do not require patterns to make now.

So we dont have to do the quest or have the book in mind ?
anyone can create molton ores or create ignots now ?

You still need the book for that. But now molting iron doesn't gives practice points anymore. But anyone with the book can make iron stock and making any stock is the only of getting practice points now.

I don't seem to get any practice points at all... Neither for melting nor for stock casting...
And yes, I got the book in mind...
I'm level 0 metallurgy with full training (bar's entirely green) and can't get to lvl 1...

Ah... You need to have some Progression Points gained from some other source, and also some trias, so that you can buy Metallurgy Skill training from level 0 to level 1 ....Harnquist is probably the citizen you need to talk to for that.

I didnt recieve any points either yesterday when making stock, I am lvl 4 metallurgy :(

thats what i meant - i already got full metallurgy skill training (bar's entirely green) - that's what it's supposed to look like if i got full skill training and have to practice now - but that practice is supposed to give exp, which it doesn't...
-
I have read all the posts and can make myself clear.
There is a bug or not?
if not, how am i supposed to practice metallurgy? (already did the full train at harnquist, current level 0)
I did melt ores but gain no exp at metallurgy.
Thank you

What i experienced with the furnace today was, that i get experience points in metallurgy for:
- casting iron stock
- casting steel stock
- melting steel stock
My level in metallurgy was 6, dont know if this has any influence...

That's odd. I'm level 0 metallurgy, fully trained and have the 'working with stock' book in mind.
I can melt iron ore, but when i try to cast it, all i get is a 'pile of dust'.
So how should i raise my level then?
*edit*
Nevermind. Stupid me... i was placing my molten iron in the forge, instead of casting stock.
Got it now. :whistling:

I saw one guy casting stocks some days ago, he had level 3 that time!
-
Perhaps the problem is with the wording used in some of the posts. I have gone from level 0 to 5 in the past few days, casting and remelting iron stock. Although I do not believe you will receive any experience or "progression" points, you do receive practical training points used for ranking up in metallurgy.

I think Bilbous might be on to something. If you are just melt single Iron ore than the effect you are looking for might not happen! >o)
