Post by: SaintMilon on November 26, 2006, 11:08:39 pm
Is there a way i can fix this because i downloaded the latest client from te site and when i went to play and create a character the models look like meshes, they are not complete and have no detail or shading what so ever, so it said i need to update but i just get this :

make sure that you have the most recent graphics card drivers.

list your card and the version of the drivers.

On Windows, the laziest way to just find all the needed info is to goto your start menu, then run, then type dxdiag and enter.  Your processor and memory are on the first page, your graphics card and video memory are on the display page.

Device
Radeon 7000 64mb

Drivers
6.14.0010.6462 (English)

Is that the info needed?

And do you want me to send you an image of the characters so i can show you what i mean?

Catalyst Software Suite 46.6MB 6.11 Nov. 15, 2006 Display Driver
Catalyst Control Center
WDM Drivers

for the latest driver bundle off of the atitech.ca site.

but you may not have enough ram on that vid card.
but update the drivers and see.

Hiya :)

Visit this site (http://atitech.ca/support/driver.html), and from the boxes select your operating system, card type, and card series, then click on the "Go" button. You'll be taken to a page where you can download the more recent version of your graphics drivers, which should fix the problem you are experiencing.

Keep in mind however that 64MB on a card is pretty low, just the bare minimum requirements to play the game, so you may not get an entirely smooth experience.

Probably, contact the ATI support or bug them on the forum for getting proper help :-)

make sure that you have the most recent graphics card drivers.

I got the same problem
But what does "cant contact mirror" have to do with graphic drivers?
(i always have the latest drivers btw)

No other solution around?

Its the graphics problem that may be due to the drivers not the updater problem.

I have some notes on this issue in this thread

http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=26531.msg298579#msg298579

It contains a possible work around

-- look for the section after the part where I say "Hey Dev Guys what's up with this?"

Basically, Try disabling the updater from pulling the data files temporarly so you can get the other files listed after "data/servers.xml~"

Hiya, I'm getting the same problem. I've got a radeon x800 running on the Omega 3.8.252 drivers.

Anyway, it's late. Your post looks like it might help, Runic. I'll check it out tomorrow.

(First post. Hi me.  \\o// )

EDIT: Here was what happened during update on the first run.

I believe you can disable data updates by clicking on the "Updater Options" button. If I recall correctly - don't have the client available on the machine I'm using at the moment.

Erm, I don't need that stuff?  :sweatdrop:

EDIT: Ah, ok, I see what you guys were talking about. It's certainly data/servers.xml. Anyway, I gt the rest of the update.

I found the location of the servers.xml~ file that we all are getting stuck on

so just save http://laanx.fragnetics.com/updater_hidden/data/data/servers.xml~ to PATH_TO_PLANESHIFT/data

it should work, I think... some md5sum as in the updatecurrent.xml file
