Title: Potter-Esque Mail-System?

I know that most of us have heard of Harry Potter and how they use owls to communicate with each other instead of magic mailmen or something.  This could be implemented into the game so that a player can have an inbox, outbox and ignore list.  Essentially it\'s similar to MSN messanger but is only related to Planeshift, not what your Grandma ate for dinner last night.  Owls would make the communication real but not slow.  And you\'d be able to have your own owl to do your mailman jobs for you so you can sit at home comfortably (or uncomfortably, if you send your owl off to find help) and hope for the best.  :]

What you are thinking of are familiars, they should not have to be owl\'s but what the person chooses, the mail thing is different though...i like it :)

I like it, reminds me of carrier pigeons that people used to use to send mail to each other.

Excuse me for not looking up their names , but it would be cool seeing those flying dragon-like creatures carrying messages, theyd have bags on their sides and the rider wouuld just be sitting there directing the creature.

Familiars and pets are of different classes.  A pet is a friend, but a familiar is almost an extention of the self.  It would be a nice touch to see a familiar ability, where when you are of high level, you can see through its eyes, and eventually control its every movement.

I don\'t know about owls. Some people might think it\'s childish because they might not like Harry Potter. Plus, are we even going to have houses for ourselves? That\'s a LOT of houses (seeing as how the owl would need some place to go to).

They could just go to the people....but houses are going to be extremely expensive and will probably be rare to have a house all to yourself, more likely you will just have a guildhouse

ok how bout if you dont have a house, there is a post office with a clerk, and to send someone a letter, you leave it with the clerk person, and they give it to the person when they come in to check their mail,  for people with houses, they will have birds of some sort to send and reiceve their messages.

:D  That would be kinda cool. Shooting down somebody elses carrier pigeon whatever, and reading its mail :)
