Its the hot news here in Ireland too. I don't know what to make of it. Its on too big a scale for me to even attemt to fathom the implications.

I find it a bit unlikely that the Russian leadership is behind it like is being suggested. More likely some subordinate or a Mafia group, or even someone totally different. It's really hard to tell. Other than it being a sick way to murder someone, I don't have much of an opinion yet. I await some real news rather than speculation.

I don't see this as having any implications whatsoever.  The only change will be in the public perception of the current political state of affairs in Russia regarding the KGB - but nothing has actually changed.

I was effectively quoting the current Russian standpoint.

ehhhh.  The Brits are guilty of it too.  Doesn't anyone remember that assasination back near the beggining of the Iraq war?  MI5 tried to pass it off as a suicide?

Are you honestly claiming that the death of Dr. David Kelly was an assasination and not suicide?

[Edit]
OK, ignore that. I have some reading to do at work it seems ;)

I thought that that was accepted fact by now. There was some chap that stood outside 10 Downing Street with a portrait of David Kelly for hours. He just stood there. The government was totaly ignoring the questions being asked.
