I succsesfuly compiled the new client.
I can connect to the server play etc. everything is working fine.
my only problem is that some plugins where not build here is a list:
partphys_simple.csbundle
rain.csbundle
rainldr.csbundle
fire.csplugin
fireldr.csplugin
partphys_simple.csplugin
rain.csplugin
rainldr.csplugin
snow.csplugin
snowldr.csplugin
any ideas why they are not build? they should be in cs-folder like the other csplugins right? what am i missing?
please help

You have a mac version of 17 working? cool!

Hey im not a nub and i know most people wont send anyone there compiled Ver. of planeshift for Mac. But please can you send me the one you made?

Those plugins no longer exist and are no longer used by PS as a result.

Brief Explanation of the licenses
Read this paragraph if you want to have a quick overview of the licensing used by PlaneShift.
For players:
The first goal of our team is to make a free game for players. This means you will not have to pay for the game, nor pay a monthly cost. You can install our software on many PC as you like, play it as much as you want.
You cannot distribute the client, sell it or gain any profit from it.
You can use our client only to connect to Official Servers.
For developers:
Code is under GPL license, this means you can get all our source code, study it and reuse it as soon as you keep it open and give back to us your changes.
All artwork, musics, dialogues, stories, names, 3d models, etc... are under a proprietary license. This means you cannot reuse those in any way. If you plan to create another game based on our source code, remember you will have to redo all art,music,models,stories,etc...
You cannot host another server where PlaneShift Clients connects to, because our license on assets forbids it.
A detailed explanation of the licenses follows.
I suspect that if Simagel were to distribute a copy of his compile of 0.3.017 PS Client for Mac OS X to you Skooty or to anyone else, his actions would be in violation of the license for PlaneShift.

That's rubbish. He can distribute the compiled source to whoever he likes. Putting it in an installer with the art without our permission would probably breach the license, but he doesn't need to do that.

hmmm if they do no longer exist why are they included in the pc-binary???? Like rain.dll or rainldr.dll or partphysis_simple.dll

The particle system was changed recently and rain/snow/fire etc. is all done in a different particles plugin. Talad probably forgot to remove those old dll's from the windows installer.

Hmmm, I think patience is the word here. Like most of you, it is killing me waiting for an official release (I am checking the sticky five times a day now :o ), but there are obviously issues with the mac client and dfryer wants it to be as perfect as possible before releasing. I congratulate those whom are able to compile their own version, I wouldn't know where to begin, but surely these versions will contain the very bugs dfryer is trying to stomp out. If too many buggy versions are in the public realm, it will not only spoil gameplay for those users, but for everyone who interacts with them in game.
Please be patient.
A very, very big thanks to dfryer for all the hard work (and do you think you could get a bl**dy move on :innocent: )

Thank you for the post thats exactly my opinion (about releasing a buggy client) i talked to dfryer on irc there are defenitly some issues with the current release and dfryer is trying to resolve them so be patient till the release. I know its hard but if you realy want to play, compile it yourself, it is not that hard and you can find help on irc. At the moment i am testing if i have the same buggs as dfryer, if not i think we will find a solution fast.
Sorry for this bad news for all who are waiting, but releasing a buggy client is surely not a solution.

Shadowbane is a commerical product. You won't be compiling it as the code is not open...

OOPS! my bad i ment planeshift! i was playing shadowbane at the time i was posting. But in the compiling guide for planeshift it says you need certain programs, I was wondering if you need them all.

The compile guide lists instructions for the server itself, I think. You may not need everything listed to compile the client, someone better versed in this needs to answer that one. But, the issue is the CVS code that you would compile from still has whatever problems they are trying to correct now. So, you can compile it, but the CVS needs to be updated with the fixes that dfryer is working on now. So... I wait.

Considering its not against the liscence to share your compiled version of the program do yo feel like sharing it pls?
Or maybe submit to a FileDen account for the time being so people wont keep pestering you....

I finaly managed to make an installable pakage of the client (which is not at all easy, compiling it was much easier) and yes i am willing to share this copy.
For now i did not find big problems with the build. So it could be released. What i miss is the right contact to put it on the servers or somebody to talk to.
But i will try to get that contact as sooon as possible. I know you all are waiting for this.

So i do no longer have to worry because i was not able to put the license into the dmg.

its out! thank you thank you thank you thank you....i am almost bald from pulling my hair out waiting for the osx release. thank you again. at least should there be newer versions, at least i would have hack a million rats by then.
