When I run the updater, I encounter some strange problems with texts... or rather, a lack of text. All I can see is the background and blank buttons. Here is a screenshot of the problem:

Any tips and suggestions would be much appreciated. I personally have limited knowledge on Computers, so yeah...

Sure, first,
What are your current system specs? What type of video card are you using? What is the driver version for that card?
To find out how to find this info, see below (Im asming you're running windows):
Your processor type and speed, amount of RAM, and graphics card type are the main ones. If you are using Windows, you can find the first two by right-clicking on your "My Computer" icon and choosing "Properties." Your graphics card model and driver version you can see by typing dxdiag into the Windows run command, and looking at the "Display" tab.

AMD Athlon(tm) Processor (I have no idea what it's speed is), 245,232 KB RAM, and I think my Graphics Card is "S3 Graphics ProSavage KL/KM and utilities" or something.

ProSavage eh? Hmm, I do believe that video card likes to have a hissey fit with PS.
Hmm, did a quick search for "prosavage" found this recent thread: http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=26402.0
PS uses OpenGL to run, without support for that, well, it mostly just doesn't run on those cards and if does run, well, you see the results.

I see. So I would not be able to run the game then? What a pity.

S3 drivers have a very bad name for opengl support. Only thing you can do is checking for new drivers on the s3 site, or tweak driver settings? BTW, from S3 marketing i've heard they want to drop opengl completely...
Thats a quote I found on the net, Do you know what version drivers you are using?
I think the Graphics 'card' is actually an onboard chip and I believe it has not been produced or supported for a fair amount of time.
Assuming you have a Via motherboard then the Via site is your best place to look for the newest drivers.
Infact, you dont need to look for them because you can just click HERE (http://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/video/ProSavage/139365IShld.zip). That will get you Version - 13.93.65, for use with S3 ProSavage integrated graphics (PL133/T, KL133/A & KM133/A series) ( VT8361/4 VT8604 PL133T VT8365 VT8364A VT8365A )
I would guess that the codes in italics are Motherboard version codes.
***Disclaimer***
I have heard of S3 graphics adaptors crashing your PC when installing drivers. So, as always, if it doesnt work start in safemode and use Windows XP system restore and that should get you running again. If it doesnt neither I nor This site are responsible ;)

My Computer is Windows 2000, not XP. And most of its hardware are ancient. Oh wells... Farewell.
