Title: Do not use missles to crash other players
Post by: Jurrel on December 09, 2006, 05:45:02 pm
When in games in areas where fighting is good players will sometimes fight over kills.I will leave area find other kills and come back later. I feel some players are abusing the bug with partical effect on missle. When missle fires players crash, area is free. I believe that strategy to be rude. This is no way to act please respect your fellow players.

turn on the vertex buffer object in PSSetup and you wont crash .... most people have done this so they are not trying to be rude

I also think there was somewhere fix for that... but I installed the fix and turned vertex buffer on at the ame time, so i don't know.

Further, i don't think players are casting summon missile to crash others. They do it because they can and lure by this enemies, which they kill when they are in range for meele attacks.

Well not sure if there are players who crash other people intentional but defintaly sure there are people takking advantage of the fact when you do crash if it's busy and if this happens to be the ne casting the spell aswell then it starts to look suspicious at best.

A while ago I flung an arrow at somebody's head, nobody crashed.
I think this crash only occurs in very rare circumstances.
And I don't think people are really abusing it either.

Just turn the vertext buffer on. As it is known now, it is your fault if you are crashing.

Flipping the vertex buffer on doesn't fix all the spell-effect-related crashes, though...

Unless they're doing it to claim mobs at a distance, which is very, very, very, very, very rude.

Are you saying all mages should move up face to face with Mobs before attacking? which would effectively negate the advantage of being a mage.

Well said Idoru ... mages dont fight face to face.
And since i turned the vertex buffer to on I haven't  crashed once.

Camping NPCs in the arena is entirely OOC, so your argument is moot since it's based on the premise that the characters in that situation should behave in character.  Camping is OOC.

No-one will rent me lodging so I have to camp when I want to sleep. It is entirely in context.

This light-hearted non-sequitur is brought to you by the word...
 moot:
 1. Subject, or open, to argument or discussion; undecided;
      debatable; mooted.
      [1913 Webster]

  2. Of purely theoretical or academic interest; having no
practical consequence; as, the team won in spite of the
bad call, and whether the ruling was correct is a moot
      question.

This was my first post and you all have been very helpful. This is not a Mage I was talking about and if I see a Mage Using magic I can usually turn away from the area before crash. I am reseting my buffer and will let you all know how that goes. As for not being on purpose I came back with damage and that I cant explain.Thank you all so much for being so kind. I love this game.

Just for keeping the thread on topic:

*if you crash because somebody or you have cast "MISSILE" then, turn on VERTEX BUFFER in pssetup.
*if that is not solved READ here http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=26465.0 and take action!
*if the help you get is too slow, and you claim to be an helpful dude, debug the client ;)

Thanks to you all the Vertex buffer worked. Now when plyers hit mob in front of me from far away I live. I tell them there rude and if they want my mob ask or wait your turn. Thanks to all of you no more crashes. Just go to program files click on Crystal Blue click on setup (the one that looks like a window not word doc )turn buffer to on your good to go. Some people still have problems one suggested changing coler bits to 16, it worked  for him. By the way it is a tactic people were frustated hall wasnt clearing. It was like the 4th of July. Have fun all buffers on.
