Title: Planeshift' s map
Post by: Iledoca Peire on December 09, 2006, 05:49:39 pm
Since i seen there is no actual "map" of the planeshift world, except the one in jayose's library, i decided to think about building one, with more villages:

Docks: every 2 planeshift hours will come a boat, wich will work as this: 0.00 the last boat just gone
1.30 another boat appears and characters come on it, 2.00 the boats starts to go. now people must wait the next boat to go to Geian, and in that instant everyone on the boat will load a new map, this one will be only a small square with the boat with the people on, and you have you wait till 2:30 when the boat will arrive to geian. people start then to come on the boat and wait for 3:00 for the boat to sail to essenx, at 3:30 the boat arrives there, ETC...
I would like to describe a bit my ideas on the new villages:

Essenx: A village of medium size, without defencive walls, may be like hydlaa for the houses disposition (however wont have a big plaza), has stone roads, houses made of wood, wont have a stone floor or elevations but grass and a large wodden dock. NPC there look like humans and some enkidukai exceptions.

Geian: This one will be VERY small, a wodden dock, a sand road, wodden huts for fishermen NPCs, a small wodden wall around the village and two roads, one goingto south and one following the coast to north.

The thing of the docks may be difficult to program, you can make a boat geian-essenx and essenx-geian, as one arrive at destination, 5 minutes after it will dissappear and the characters on it will be teleported on the dock.

Emmm... Do you know about Yliakum's geography. There will be no sea on the first level.

Very imaginative :)
But you might want to do a little reading about the settings. It is just a little wee bit different than your ideas here.

Yup, you pretty much messed up everything ;P Read the setting.

Btw, it is more for fan art section i gues.

as everyone else said your geography of the world is completely wrong. We are in giant hollow stalagtite with eight levels. The stalagtit itself is in an evene lager open cavern which itself is below a Giant surface world (probably the size of Jupiter)

Another thread (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24282.0) had many more maps
This is the map that fits best about settings.

Guys... a little ruder please... just a little more :o

Your drawing is great, even if it isn't Planeshift(truely) it still looks nice and must have taken some time.

I'll be the first to officially congradulate you on it and will recommend you keep up the good work my friend

Let me be the second to congratulate you. And yup, some of you were a little rude. Specifically Nikodemus. But I cant really deny the sentiment they were trying to  get across to you. Your geography is incorrect. I would really love to see people be a little nicer especially when they see it is someones first post.

Idoru's right! YOU SUCK!

 ;D

I like your map though. If not entirely accurate, it's cool.

It's good to see people contributing. It's sad to see that they didn't research though, thereby invalidating their own effort. However, I think that this map could be used for a part (probably close to the center hole) of the 6th or 7th level (depending on season) if the cities were renamed. Maybe the Klyros City Project might have use for it.
a Giant surface world (probably the size of Jupiter)
The planet must be similar in size as earth, since otherwise gravity would be too high to allow humanoid life at all, and jumping would be completely out of the equation. I don't think you want to have 12 different forms of slime for the races? ;)

The diametre of Jupiter is 11 times the diametre of Earth.

Love the map, you got skills.

Have to agree with many here though, doesn't quite fit the settings.

still love it

 :flowers: for you.

In a world where you can shoot fire out of your hands and generate infinite power with a glowing crystal, physicists are pretty screwed :P

No, they aren't. Magic is merely the ability to make use of a different form of energy. This means that it can be analysed just as any other form of energy (and I like tho think that the crystal actually is just a converter that converts some other form of energy into, or a tap into a stream of, arcane energy (AKA mana)). Magic research is similar to physics in this respect. And while magic certainly can alter gravity and keep the planet from falling apart, just like it can generate fire while keeping your hands from charring, it can be assumed that not everything involves magic. In fact, most things don't. Especially since magic can bend or alter the laws of nature only while it is being cast, and if things haven't reached a stable state when the magic ceases, then they will reach equilibrium through instant change. This is why a sword made of air will have to include a spell to store and refresh it's mana, while a sword magically forged from iron can continue to exist without magic.

Not necessarily.  It's fictional, so it can be anything.
