Just downloaded 3.017 . I am using OSX 10.4 on a macbookpro and also on on Intel Imac (identical problems on both machines)
I have display problems ... see attached screenshots.
Also when the game does run it is very slow (cursor movements etc ) and Activity monitor shows it as using 100% cpu
The first is the PSsetup screen .... it crashes on starting a couple of times and then does start up but looks as in pic
(http://www.phosted.com/x12/screenshot_01.jpg)
The second is the login screen ...
Third is game screen ... at first the entire window is pixellated
(http://www.phosted.com/x12/screenshot_05.jpg)
then after about 10 - 15 secs it clears except for the info window which stays as in screenshot. I had none of these problems with the last version

lol exactly in this moment i wanted to post the same issue. I'm having the same problem on the same windows with my new intel iMac. updater, psclient and pssetup now ceased to work compleaty. Two Days ago i read through an other thread, where someone advised "crossover", to use the pc version on a mac. The funny thing is, that running it causes the same grafic bugs. But it is still lauchable and playable, appart of the tiny problem that my computer freezes when i press the run button (apple+alt+esc doesn't help)..
So maybe this is a intel mac problem.
-
I have the exact same graphical problems that you described. I haven't gotten psssetup to stay open though (as in, not quit before it finishes opening), but perhaps I just haven't opened it enough times.
-
I have the exact same problem aswell, but not in the login screen, character screen, or loading screen. Just in-game windows (especially health, mana, and stamina window)
-
Yep, same problem here about the display and pssetup, and I'm on an intel Mac too. Sheesh, i knew windows would bring us trouble >:(
-
Like Sun and Moon, the only issues I am having are the in the health, mana and stamina windows (but I'm not complaining, happy to just be able to be on). I am running 10.4 on an i-book.
-
Im having the same problem. I am also running a Intel Mac. I wish it would work. :(
-
Yup, same problem here ???
Wish I'd stuck with my old iMac now
-
Same problem on my MacBook Pro. I also can't get pssetup to stay open long enough to use.
-
Just wondering if anyone has found a solution to this yet? I am also experiencing graphic problems like those mentioned above (it affects my whole screen and is pretty bad). I'm using a Macbook Pro.
-
Now here's a weird thing
I tried running the Windows version on my Intel Mac using Crossover (a Windows emulator). Yes, it works, but with very similar screen problems and the set up program won't load.
It seems the problem is a bit more fundamental - something to do with the Mac architecture - maybe Chaos or DFryer could look at this?

I have the same issue, but it only affects the stamina/health window, chat window, and shortcut window. It also is messed up on the character selection page, but in a different way.
-
Will this ever get fixed! I REALLY want to play the game while being able to read how to play it, and what my health is, etc.
Please fix this! Please! :'( :( :'(

Dfryer's looking at it. Please be patient. He has other issues to address first, such as the people who can't open the game at all. ;)

Greetings everyone;
I am having the same graphics problems on my MacBookPro (Intel Processor). In fact once I have created my character and joined the game, the first screen loads up all pixelated and then the game crashes. On a side not using Parallels Desktop to run Windoze XP on this machine allows me to play the windows version of the game... although it is slow and jerky and seems to only be at 8 bit colour no matter what the settings are.
Look forward to getting the game functioning on my machine.
Farewell for now!

An interesting thing that I have noticed. I have a MacBook Pro. Recently I reinstalled my OS, and the first thing I did was put Planeshift back on. Before reinstalling the OS, I had the same issues. After reinstalling, they were gone. The only difference was that instead of running OS X 10.4.8 (where the graphics bugs existed) I was running OS X 10.4.6. So I think the problem might lie more in the 10.4.8 update than the hardware.
EDIT: After updating to 10.4.8, the graphic bugs returned
Also, I am not using 3.017, I am using 3.018.

Intel mac users with graphic glitches and crashes, try the following:
Opening up the file Planeshift3D/data/config/r3dopengl.cfg in a text editor, and finding this line:
;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_compression = false
and removing the leading semicolon. This will disable texture compression which might slow stuff down or break things, but it might help.
Thanks,
Daniel

Impressive how many things a single semicolon changes! Now the client is stable and the pixellisation has disappeared. A big thanks to you, dfryer \\o// \\o//

BTW I had this issue with .018 on my intel mac too, but this did fix it for me.

Below is the output from me trying to run the updater to get the artwork. Any idea how to fix this?

Why are you running the updater to get the artwork? Unless you're building from source, you have all the artwork you need in the main release... If you do need to get the artwork, you can try the Java updater (see the Guide), though that looks like you have an internet connection problem or that the updater servers are down.

Good day to all;
I have read that this worked for some Intel Mac users and just wanted to let you know that on my MacBook Pro 2Ghz with 2GB of RAM it made things worse as it would now crash on entering the game. Therefore, I have gone back to having the semicolon so I can at least get into the game and do a few things.
Keep up the great work dfryer!
