They are magical beings by nature, and to own one you need to prove your worth :] Try asking for a task from someone who is close to the magical arts.

sweet i have him thanks, but it says "you are to weak call for your familiar any more today" how do i fix this

You can't at the moment, there's a rather unfortunate limit right now - there are still many bugs with the pet system.
