I had to say "Did I see Tolkien ingame???" But smell just sounds better ;D
To the point! I was walking in the Library and my eyes fell on the books I was shocked :o I swear LOTR is one of the books, ::) Although It could just be me seeing things :sweatdrop:
Look for your self:

1. The book case, just a random one I circled all the "I think are" LOTR (or 'the Hobbit') books
2. One of those books enlarged
3. My stupid attempt to make the burly logo more clear
4. The well know Tolkien logo
5. The part that is missing in on the logo on the books in the case (nr 1,2,3), probably Or not to see because of the blurry effect, Or specially done so it wouldn't be that noticed ;D the sneaky devs, Or it's a completly other thing :P
So help me! Are these really a wink to Tolkien or am only I crazy enough to see it?
^^ Péace out!

I think it is 'Legend Of Trasoks Repairs' :D
-
Wow, you have a good eye. I have to admit, it does look sorta suspect...
P.S. Your sig creeps me out :P

Nice find turns out there are some LotR fans in the art team. Now time for a quote from memory:
"All thats gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not reached by the frost"

Hmm, it's somewhat similar, but has several distinct differences. It may have just as well been inspired by chinese or similar writing.
-
hmm have to agree. May have been inspired by it, but it's definatelty a different sign aswell.
-
Doesn't look like it enough for it to be anything more than coincidence.
-
I think that the glyph on the edge of the books looks nothing like the Tolkien logo either.
-
You may not be able to smell it but one can at times hear the languages of Arda, mostly broken Sindarin with the odd intermingling of Quenya

I didn't mean the language of one of the Species created by Tolkien, but his 'sort of' signature Number 4, that stands for J.R.R. Tolkien ;)

I thought the elves and the dwarves on PS were the only obvious influences from Tolkien...
But perhaps there may be another explanation for this...
99% of the medieval style RPGs have some influence from Tolkien... ::)

;) That's easy to explain, Before Tolkien there were elves and dwarves already (in other stories), and his books are also in a medieval world, so anything medieval can be named "influence" ;)
I think that's the same for RPGs, their are based on stories/settings, medieval settings/stories they all got some things in comment, that can be called "influence" from tolkien, but there are enough stories out there with dwarves and elves who aren't from Tolkien :whistling: I lost my self back there, hopefully it still can be understand by others :sweatdrop:

No, there were no elves and dwarves before Tolkien in the form we commonly know them.
Elves were small fearies with butterfly wings and dwarves were just small people with spiky red hats and nobody would identify them with mining, axes, specific harsh language, beer and sometimes smell.
That is the reason why "99% of the medieval style RPGs have some influence from Tolkien..."
-
Right on one count about the dwarfs, wrong on the Elf count however:
Although our early English evidence is slight, there are reasons to think that Anglo-Saxon elves (ælfe) were similar to early elves in Norse mythology: human-like, human-sized supernatural beings, predominantly if not exclusively male, capable of helping or harming the people who encountered them

You are wrong Watcher...
in accepting only tis what you read i wikipedia ;)
You information don't exclude mine in any way. It only expand the viev on that matter.

Of course it isn't the tolkien insignia! That would be copyright infringement. And PS DOES NOT condone things of that sort. ;) But putting something into PS that looks similiar to it as an homage to the great Tolkien... I wouldn't see a problem with that and no matter what anyone else says, that is how I am gonna look at it. Even if it just turns out to be a chinese ideogram.
