Title: Planeshift Smilies
Post by: Watcher on December 22, 2006, 08:39:23 pm
As the holidays are approaching and I seem to have returned for now to Planeshift to create smilies, I will do custom ones if you request but bear in mind that once the holidays are over I suspect my time will dwindle and I can't even promise to do the custom ones this holiday as school work does have to take priority but I will try to get them done

The People

Just my idea of what a male Planeshift Dev might look like featuring shades, black hat with crystal logo on and sly smile around his face.

Ylian, does this need anymore explaining?

A Klyros.

A Stone breaker.

These guys are well hard.

Thanks to LigH I present the male Ynnwn.

A female Ynnwn with a much lighter shade of red.

The Signs

In response to the current lack of the gliding feature some Klyros have adopted a very interesting belief system.

It had to be done...

I had to create this one after I typed the response to the Kran smilie, it made so much sense.

Made for Malfini for his script.

Made for Kixie for the wonderful story.

Comments, questions, responses welcome.

Tee-hee! I like these! I'll likely use some of them, especially: (http://radyr.cardiff.sch.uk/~peter.jenkins/Soon.gif)

I don't get the stonebreaker, though. It looks somewhat like an alien... :)

dev:
was very hard to see it was a dev... my tip: lose the shades and use ordinary geek glasses xD.

Human:
The mouth is pretty hard to see what it is :), maybe a bit lighter colours will do(don't know, could be my laptop screen :p), and more red cheeks :p

klyros:
This is awfully good pictured from the official model. Although the little thing on his head looks more like... a little ball :p needs to be sharper imo.

Stonebreaker:
The beardcolour maybe... Else it's well done from the official model too :D

Kran:
I think this one is pretty well made good job :)

The signs are cool, I specially like the first one xD
the last one though, I can't read the last word in the first line... one more xxx and you'll die  ^^

edit:

very nice :) but no enkis :'(
HA, only good :p there's too much enki stuff in the first place :p

This what you had in mind?

Stonebreaker

Seeing as there have been several comments on this with different points I will leave it until I get more to build up a fuller picture of what is actually wrong with it.

but no enkis

I did do a trial with one of them but I couldn't get it quite right so I scrapped it, I will be doing enkis in time as I will be hopefully doing the other species.

the issue with the stonebreaker (IMO) is it just doesn't look very "human". looks more like an ugly doll :s

Well I will redo the stone breaker then.

Quote
I can't read the last word in the first line... one more xxx and you'll die

It says "One more pun, You die..." referencing the fact that I did the 'well hard' pun earlyer.

Both glasses and non glasses versions.

Your Christmas present, there isn't really a way I have found to cut off the hair satisfactorily.

Planeshift swearing or real swearing with asterix?
PS swearing. It doesn't need to include any text (or special characters) at all, if the expression shows it. :)
Thanks in advance!

How do you make them?

I wouldn't want to bother you by making lots of requests, and i'd love to learn.

How time consuming is it?

What programs do you use, if any?

By pixel editing then applying an internal bevel to create the illusion of 3d.

At most an hour, usually less.

Paint Shop Pro 8.

Thank you, that is how I imagined it, I just couldn't make it.

Paint Shop Pro is my favourite bitmap editor as well.

It just got a bit too bloated when JASC was taken by Corel. I guess Version 8 or 9 would be the optimal version.

Two New Year Presents, still a few hours early until New Year for me but I thought I should get them out of the way.

As Per Request, if you want anything changed don't hesitate to ask.

A female Ynnwn.
