The Crimson Order brotherhood (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/guild.html)

Foreword
It been a long time since someone heard about this guild a bit more and I'm hoping to change it with this thread. We need members who like to roleplay, no matter how good they are with it. Both people with ideas and those who also want to have fun, but aren't as creative. One thing is sure, there is no fun without people willing to seed it and continue. There are free places for people who like to rule and build a guild, but through well thought, agreed ideas and decisions.
This may be nothing more than what is already offered by some of the other RP guilds. But you may feel interested more if you like guild devoted to nature protecting and some of the commonly known things about this idea. But don't think stereotypically and be prepared for fresh approach. As a guild, we can also propose being known by some of the the older community members and possibly better chance for becoming confirmed part of the PS world when devs will start implementing guild features like guild houses for example.
The guild exist since over 3 years and both its story and organisation has been thought off long time ago. While it may be good, it was created to serve members of the brotherhood and this isn't going to change. It's even that while much of the stuff is written down, it is lacking in few parts and waiting for creative continuation. So if the guild will reborn and will gain more members than the few it has, there is a lot of room for possible changes.
I hope you will like it, feel interested and some of you will be willing to join.

Story (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/t_co_peasant.html)

Distress and Hope
At first was a dream. Aegmar, a mere Ylian peasant was tired of working for a scornful and faraway lord, whom face he had never seen. Yet, for the security of his beloved family, he was enduring his burden silently, dismissing any thought of revolt or flight. One day, at the end of a year cursed by a particularly poor harvest, the militia came to his village to take away the annual tax on the villager’s production. None of the peasants could afford to pay his due, and the guards got angered. As a punishment, they killed several of the old people because, as they said, they were useless and did nothing but taking resources that should have come to the lord. It was not the first time that Aegmar witnessed the death of innocents, but this time he couldn’t take it anymore. With his family and some other villagers he decided to leave the village and go south, where could be found inhabited yet welcoming lands. After twenty-six days of walk, the fugitives finally found a place where they decided to establish their new village, which they decided to call ‘New Seed’. As time passed, the village grew prosperous, and after a while, people came from distant places to join them. Aegmar’s dream was now a reality, and he was happy to tell the story of New Seed to the newcomers, passing on its ideals and traditions.

A crimson day
But dreams are ephemeral. One can enjoy it for the time it lasts, but sooner or later comes the awakening... New towns were growing all over Yliakum, and New Seed’s isolation came to an end. Pushed by their lust for power and richness, the ???mighty had no respite in their search for new lands to rule. One day, two generations after Aegmar closed his eyes for the last time, an emissary came to New Seed and spoke to the villagers. „The mighty lord Northik has sent me to deliver you this message: I, Northik Barm, lord of Ahneren, knight of the Warding Scales claim this land as mine, in agreement with the Octarch’s decision. You have built this village on a land that did not belong to you, and now you are outlaws. Today I give you a choice: if you ???swear me allegiance, you will be allowed to stay here and continue living as you used to. If not, then you will have to leave before the week is over.” (…)
Refusing to live under the authority of yet another lord, the villagers decided that, despite their reluctance to do so, they had no choice but to leave their village. Unfortunately, Northik, driven mad by the Scale, feared that they might serve another lord, and assumed it was safer to just get rid of them. Mercenaries were sent, and they killed everyone they saw. Only a group of young people who were not in the village at this moment were spared, and they could do nothing but witness the slaughter once they returned.

A forest, a hawk, and a voice
The survivors did not know what to do, but they knew they had to flee this place. They walked right ahead during days, until they eventually reached a huge forest. There, they saw a red hawk perched on a tree, as if he was expecting them. He flew away and they followed him, deep inside the forest. After a while, the hawk went on another tree, and faced them. Suddenly, they heard a voice inside their head, nice and gentle. The voice introduced herself as Aiwendil, an ancient spirit of the forest, and told them her story.

(be sure to read the rest on our site)

Summary
The Crimson Order is a Brotherhood placed under the protection of Aiwendil, a spirit of Nature. Our main goals are to remain neutral and independent, avoid conflicts, and see that Nature is not endangered. We are not looking for fame, power, or glory; we just try to grant our members a peaceful environment where they can share their skills and achieve tasks through mutual aid. We only fight to defend ourselves and to ease Aiwendil's ire against intruders.

Rules (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/rules.html)
Our Brotherhood has a number of easy, but strict rules. If you don't follow them you can face serious penalties, such as being demoted or banned from the guild.

Departments
Each Department is managed by a Councillor, the Matriarch or the Patriarch. The departments are to organize members into groups which can work together inside and with other departments.

Careers (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/careers.html)
Brothers can blossom within the Order by choosing careers according to their personnality and ambition. This will give them the opportunity to contribute to the wealth of the Brotherhood. As they increase in ranking, they will have a choice between more different careers. Remember that Pupils are not fully members of the Order yet, and as such can not practise any career until they reach the rank of Adept. One career can be chosen at the rank of Adept, and two careers for the ranks above. This is to encourage specialisation and better effects as people may focus better on one job while others do their job. But exceptions are possible and while there are not enough members to fill all needed jobs, this rule is changing dynamicaly to reflect best outcome.

Artisan
Artisans have chosen to use their crafting skills for the benefit of the Brotherhood rather than adventure or fighting. They can rely on the Order and the Traders to provide them supplies, share their knowledge with their Brothers, and use the knowledge gathered inside the Brotherhood to improve their work.

Trader
A Trader surveys the economy of Planeshift, follows the prices, and knows where and how to find good deals. When the Brotherhood needs supplies, it will ask for the help of the Traders.

Priest
A priest is a dedicated worshipper of Aiwendil. He takes care of the cult, organizes ceremonies, and sees that no one shows disrespect to our Protector, Aiwendil. The Priests watch over their Brothers, who will benefit from their wisdom. Also, Priests will try to spread the Voice of Aiwendil to outsiders, and will often work in pair with Recruiters to talk with Pupils and potential future members.

Druid
Not quite as adventurous as Rangers, and not as expansive as Priests, Druids seek quietness and harmony, and are devoted to the protection of Nature. They often work with Rangers on issues related to it, and when needed draw their strength from their surroundings.  A Druid can not take Ranger as a second career.

Organizer
Organizers are in charge of the Order's events. They find new ideas, agree on dates, set up the events and announce them (with the help of Heralds).

Artist
Artists have chosen to put their talent at the service of the Brotherhood. They write stories, poetry, songs, draw, or anything else according to their skills, which they can show during events or gatherings, and could be used by the Order.

Mentor
A mentor is a member who, because of his particular interest in a given domain, has decided to specialize in that domain. This title does not give the owner any authority or the status of council member. However, when needed for taking a decision, the council will ask for his advice. In return, and if necessary, the mentor can ask the council for help in his researches. He is also considered as a reference by his guild mates, who will benefit from his advice. The council will not ask any member to become a mentor; the decision must come from the member who will propose his services to the council.  To become a Mentor, a Brother needs to choose a specialization domain and then show his skills to the Council.

Herald
Heralds keep the Brotherhood aware of the miscellaneous things happening in Planeshift, in game or not. Their work consists of searching for news, making sure of their reliability, sorting them, and seeing that they are correctly spread within the Brotherhood. They also make announcements for the Order.

Librarian
The Librarian is a keeper of the knowledge gathered by the Order: the tales of the members, the manuals, articles and books written inside or outside the Brotherhood. He knows where to find them, regularly looks for new ones, encourages his Brothers to share their knowledge. His own knowledge is not as sharp as a Mentor's, but is wider. Only Mentors can become a Librarian.

Ambassador
His role is to establish and keep contacts with other guilds, in game as well as out of the game. As a member of the Politics department, he must be a very social, yet serious person. Each guild is assigned to only one Ambassador, but an Ambassador can be in charge of several guilds.

Recruiter
Recruiters are Brothers who, thanks to their ability of making new friends and their keen judgment, know who could enter the Brotherhood or not. When they find someone, they can propose him/her to the Council, which will take a decision with their help.  There may be only 5 Recruiters. Recruiters must watch over their Pupils until they reach the rank of Adept. During this period, they are their priviledged contact, and are responsible for their actions.

Lawyer
A Lawyer knows every rules, laws, and customs of Planeshift. He can be summoned by the Council and help his Brothers when his advice is needed. Lawyers know the flaws of the rules in Planeshift as well as within the Brotherhood, and thus may propose new laws or updates to the Council.

Guard
Guards have sworn to protect their Brothers against any enemies. They will fight for the Order under the commandment of their Champions in case of war, and see that no threat is endangering the Brotherhood in times of peace. They have a strong sense of justice and loyalty, and take pride in perfecting their fighting and tactical skills.

Scout
Scouts are the explorers of the Brotherhood. Their passion for adventure leads them to look for new places, resources or quests. They like to work in small groups and to put their discoveries in common.

Ranger
Rangers are discreet Brothers. They have a very close relation with Nature and Aiwendil, and thus are their keepers. To accomplish a task, they usually prefer to work by themselves rather than joining a group. They are also versatile characters, with a wide range of skills, and like to wander in unexplored areas or sneak close to enemies.  A Ranger can not take Druid as a second career.

Champion
Champions are the best fighters of the Brotherhood. They will be the first sent in case of battle, and will be exposed to more danger than the Guards. To help them excelling in fighting, however, the Order will lend them premium equipment. A Champion has a deep knowledge of battle techniques against any kind of foe, a strong sense of discipline, and is able to lead his Brothers during a battle.  There may be only 5 Champions. Only guards can be promoted to Champions. Competitions will be organized regularly, and only the best fighters will gain access to this career. If a Champion fails to reach the top of the competition, he will restart as a Guard until he has a new opportunity of becoming a Champion.

Vice Treasurer
He helps the Treasurer in his work, or replaces him when needed.  There may be only 1 Vice Treasurer.

Treasurer
He keeps the treasury, makes plans about funds and equipment repartition and proposes them to the Council.  There maybe only 1 Treasurer and as a Councillor, he may not belong to any other department. Only the Vice Treasurer can be promoted to Treasurer.

Did you know that a message may not exceed the maximum allowed length of 20000 characters?

Sounds good. Rhicora might want to join this while being part of the Musers organization.

That is good to hear Sitteri. Should i look for Rhicora in game or we will talk somewhere else? Also, it would be great to have a muser, as there aren't many artists around.

Rioth, hehe, and i was wondering when i see your post there. May this thread bring long lasting life to CO.

Well, I can't play until it's safe to update because I'm on a Mac, but once I can play you'll probably be able to find me when I'm playing...

Congrats, Nikodemus! :)

I'm pleased to see you are still alive and kicking. I guess you're now the second older guild in this realm, the Dark Empire being still around it seems, and the Explorers following you closely. A few strong cores out there!

Mac users never had an easy life in PS... Fell very welcomed on CO forums and although its kind of in winter sleep, if only enough new people will be interested it might wake up. I know it is sometimes hard to go in game because of various reasons, but roleplaying was always over this and so Crimson Order was always open for these people. So if you feel that you would find it enjoying, the doors are open. Be it forums, IRC or any other form of communication, this are all tools of RPing.

I call everyone who love nature, to unite ourselves and work together, to live, enjoy and protect what we value at most!

.
/me smiles seeing Cad
It is good to see you too! And im pleased to see DE and Explorers stayed for so long too.
Do you plan something, or just passing by?

Just passing by, Nikodemus, just passing by. I remember you and Mayia hatching the new CO structure and background, and finding it quite elaborate, but I never really had a look at it since it was actually done. Keep up the good work!

*grins nevertheless at the idea of planning something*

Which makes me wonder, isn't there any guild reviews? Golby started working on this (in the Tavern), it was of course a demanding job but made for an interesting reading... and some pressure on the guilds still waiting in the queue ;) It would be more suited to a group of WTB critics though, I'm surprised nobody has jumped at the opportunity yet.

*eyes Swanga's guild guidelines and the linked thread from Phinehas*

Hm, anyway that's probably getting a bit out-of-topic. Still, it's about promotion and advertising, and guilds like this one would stand a good chance.

I would like to publically announce that Rhicora joined Crimson Order a few days ago.

Also, if someone say something about the guild/organization it is always positive. If my guild is so perfect, why there were only one person interested?
I don't bite ;) and i'm not perfect person too, i want to lead a guild with people who like doing the same, or just support the idea and the brotherhood being just a member.
Be critic, tell if there is something i'm doing wrong.
/me looks around for some guild revievs.
I gues Golby was just so talented person, that noone could continue it well enough like him, with Phinehas as exception. Or maybe people just think they make better, if what they write will be helpfull for any guild? I gues the community is just changing as time goes and some people go and others come.

Well you invited me to comment so I will. Your guild seems to me to be just a self sufficent community. I'll be honest and say it serves little purpose as a guild save to exist but at the same time it isn't bothering anyone. The only negative thing I can say after reading the history on the site is filthy tree huggers :P

All in all it seems good but I don't see why people would throw away their chance to help a more worthy cause to be a member. After all one can only be in one guild. I personaly would prefer a guild that represented my character's political, religious and philosophical beliefs. This seems to be a sort of radical new religion. I don't see it getting many followers but at the same time don't expect hate mail if you know what I mean. Its a good guild but just not the kind of guild I see having a large member base(By which I mean a member base of people willing to read and understand your history as opposed to the trend of I-need-a-guild-no-matter-which-it-is-ism.)

As far as I know, the CO protects nature. In a world like Yliakum, taking care of that is essential. Forget it and everyone might as well be dead. Just look at the settings. Polluting lakes can get one sentenced to death. So the CO does seem to be a very fitting guild.
Title: Re: [Guild] Crimson Order brotherhood

Few good points Parallo, but most misunderstandings. Thanx to this i may clarify few things.
The guild isn't self sufficient. It never was. It could if there were members wanting it, but even I don't believe it is possible, eve with enough members. Especially that one of our tasks is to spread the word, it is try to be close to people. But the guild want to be independent.
And none of CO members will be called of filthy tree huggers by any deceitful charlatans ;) Noone is hugging a tree, living outside the reality. What would such a person eat, without hurting any living being? The life on this world is constant competition, but as we, the inteligent beings on the top of the ladder, have the power to do everything, we teach to use this power to build and live.

I do realise many people want to be eighter evil, burn, kill and destroy, or fight the most obvious evil, to have some adventure. But i think if one will realise what are the tasks of CO, they may be same as interesting. I used to say that it would be more obvious if there was some in-game features providing more fun to uncommon guilds. But there won't be uncommon features for uncommon guilds, of there won't be enough members wanting it. Don't think that devs of PS don't think about it, but also don't expect them to do all by themselves.
Also to clarify one important matter: CO isn't spreading any new religion, there is no new religion. What there is, is the idea and pact beatwen the CO members and spirit of the forest Aiwendil. I don't think Talad or Laanx would allow for any new religion.
For the end. I know there are more people who don't know at all what they are doing in PS and would be happy in any guild. But should i break the RPing aspect of the guild, to let people who RP when they like and how they like? But CO don't close their doors from these people at all. I said at the start that we need all kinds of members, you only have to RP, even if not very well. How can we expect PS to be RPing game if we won't teach it the people?

I ment religion in a different sence of the word then most would think right of the bat. I ment as in Pantheism. And as for the tree hugging, I'm only joking :P
Title: Re: [Guild] Crimson Order brotherhood
Post by: Nikodemus on January 13, 2007, 01:42:38 am
Been almost a week, but since no one asked a thing, I will try to precise what Parallo said.
It may be hard to exaplain. Pantheism is about belief in a god, which presence is shown in the nature. The only way i could be true for CO is that Aiwendil be one, but Aiwendil is merely a spirit, if we try to compare this state to a state of a god. So not exactly Pantheism.

But Aiwendil is kind of idol to many, an individual worth following after. And so her teaching. She show herself in any form in the nature and speak through it. It may be why she is identified with the nature, like in Pantheism, but not a god and so no religion. Like i explained in previous post, this space is filled with something else.
Title: Re: [Guild] Crimson Order brotherhood
Post by: Parallo on January 13, 2007, 02:26:36 pm
Pantheism is about the reverence of nature in all its forms and the worship of natural laws. Its closer to atheism than theism.
Title: Re: [Guild] Crimson Order brotherhood
Post by: Nikodemus on January 13, 2007, 03:55:44 pm
It depends of the encyclopedia definition.
I gues it is how CO is seen from the outside. While for CO members there are facts, for people outside the brotherhood there are beliefs and so they call it religion, but i can never agree with that. Thus no one is permitted from worshiping Talad or Laanx at the same time.
