Torch of Yliakum

Rules

A small summery of what were about

A philosophy long ago told of the meaning behind our name:

"And it was said that all who are true of mind and spirit shall wear a cloak of bright light to shine forward the way of truth, protection and all encompassing love!.

Story

Sir Azure (my farther) founder of Torch of Yliakum was brutaly assinated due to his beliefs against all thing evil, As his son (my brother) died in a mysterious poisoning months before it was me (Nibela) who was therefore called to yliakum to head the guild in place of my beloved father.
One would think that the tiny, young me would have pure hate in my heart and would be bent on revenge, however, I as the Lady Azure intend to seach out the evil tyrants who orderd the murder of my farther, My heart tells me to follow the rules of Torch of Yliakum and forgive those wrong do'ers but my head tells me that unless all parties involed in my farthers death admit there part in this atrocity then there will be hell to pay.

Helping New players  

We aim to help the hundreds of new players that come into Yliakum every day as I personally feel that newbs dont get enough guidence. This means that all new players that ask for help must be given as much help as possible by all members. Members will be awarded prizes for giving the most help and guidence to newbs.

Fun and games  

We hope to be able to plan games, tressure hunts, tournaments ect... We would also like to be informed of any other guild fun and games so we can join in. Any ideas would be very much appreciated as we are a guild that welcomes ideas from all members.

Protecting the good do'ers of Yliakum and being in alliance with other good doing guilds

As a good doing guild we would like to help to protect the people of Yliakum as much as possible, which means that we might have to group up with other guilds to go to war. Have no fear we would not put you in danger if we did not think you could handle it.

Hi

in ansaw to your question we protect people of yliakum it they need it. We help new comers by given them advise and weaponry. And just have fun by planning RP events ....so on......

But there is no real IC reason for the guild to exist, only OOC ones("Oh lets make a guild!"), so an rp event centered around it would be OOC. Asides from the idea of RP events there are guilds you can join already that help newcomers.

Do you mind if i ask what the problem is. many people find comfort in our guild. it was not just set up as a "Ooo let me open a guild" it was founded nearly 1 and a half ago and as i said many people have found there way through our guild. I am sorry you feel this way but i belive Torch of Yliakum has a use in our lands.

As much as The other guilds here to help newcomers? I'm sorry to say it but it adds nothing. And yes, I'm well aware it has been around for a long time. I figured there would've been more depth by now.

Don't get me wrong. I'm trying to help. Maybe if you flesh the idea out a little more it'll seem better. Right now its quite bare.

You have my full support, I wish you luck.  ;)

However, it would be nice to see maybe some background (IC) of how this guild formed. some IC info on what you actually do and what you protect people from.

I believe Parallo is taking the confrontational approach to trying to help, it is easy to mistake it sometimes for someone just trying to beat you into the ground for not coming up to expectations.

Do I really come of as confrontational? I don't mean to. Seems I do a lot.

Well anyway yes. What Idoru said. Plus it would be nice to have a more unique purpose. Imagine how dull the Empire or the Outlaws would be if there were fifty other guilds the same.

and also them kinda guilds will allways be diffrent and unique if they make it.  :)

Take a look at the other guild threads here to see how yours should be formed. One of the recent very best is the Crimson Order (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=26964.0), and it immediately shows how much thought and effort was put into the presentation. The Creating Your Guild (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=14312.0) and Guide Lines on Guild Creation (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=25859.0) threads are also very good reads, so they're definitely recommended (http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/7151/pleasedhc3.gif)

When you're making a thread here, you're not just telling us about your guild - you are in a sense competing for new members, and in a competition you have to shine to win. Just how different is the Torch from the other guilds with the same goals? What sets you guys apart, and why should someone new look to you instead of the other guilds? I've no doubts that you have something very special to share with everyone. You just have to let people know what it is, and to let them know that they would be making a strong, sound "investment" with their character.

The torch of Yliakum, whilst geared to helping newcomers is a force for good for all Yliakum.  Maybe there are 50 other guilds out there trying for the same thing(though I doubt it!).  We will band together and form a federation.

The torch has grown, and it's members are strong and true.  We all know that we will prevail as dictated by the prophecy!
The evil will surely burn in our fire of freedom, truth and knowledge!

[Flame me if you want, I really couldn't care less!!]

I fail to see the points some seem to be trying to make here.  If your concern really is to help the guild, you're wellcome though.

As a member of the guild, I want to elaborate on the guild seen from a members eyes.

When I first came to hydlaa, I noticed the town was very big, and I couldn't find my way around.  I wandered about, and saw different people, each and everyone occupied in their doings.  When I reached the arena, I was suddenly attacked by a gladiator [I double clicked by mistake or similar, not knowing what I was doing yet],

This gladiator sent me to another Realm.  The kingdom of the dead.  I wandered about there just as confused, and was about to loose hope, when I finally managed to ask someone if there was any hope, and he had the kindness to help me return to the world of the living.  Back in Hydlaa, I stumpled on Harnquist, the smith.  I always wanted to be a smith.  My father was a smith and I was once apprentice by a blacksmith.  Now, I asked some random people if they knew where i could find a job, and they suggested asking Sir Harnquist.  Now, he might be a good smith, but his communicative skills are not exactly impressive.

To make a long story short ... I wandered about in darkness, fumbling around, stumpling over anything I didn't know.  However, I had the luck to meet a member of the Torch of Yliakum.

The Torch of Yliakum to me, is like a light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness can not comprehend the light.  I was given a weapon, and  I was explained how to make progress in Hydlaa.  How to seek teachers, where to hunt, where to sell my loot, how to earn money by mining, how to find my way in the wilderness.  All this was done without asking me to join the guild or ask anything else from me.  When I was finally asked to join the guild, I think I already had a glow in me, and I said yes as fast as I could!  Then I was made glow in the guild, and now I am carrying the torch as well, and have to pass it on. I belive that everyone has a torch, only some have little or no light. I hope that sometimes I do manage to provide some light for them that still live in darkness, be it darkness of ignorance like myself, or darkness of evil.

It may be, that other guilds are just like the Torch.  If so, that is great, and I hope they will turn to the embassy of our guild so we may help each other.

If the Torch keep spreading light over the land of Yliakum, there will be no darkness to allow evil of the kind that the murder of the very man that founded the guild represent.

Maybe what bothers you, is the simpleness of the concept of the guild.  We spread light, period. You may call us silly "do good"'ers, but I think I speak not only for myself when I say that I as a member of the Torch of Yliakum have fun and enjoy spreading happiness, light and fun as much as I can.
