As I wait for the download to finish, I'm browsing around for some screenshots. Now, I realize that the game is not even near complete, but I was just wandering if there was any information about how much better the graphics are going to get, if at all?
-
Really can't say. It depends on a) the talents of our Art Dev departments, which btw, to me at least, do a butt kicking job, and b) what crystalspace, PS's engine, allows us to do, which like PS, is constantly being worked on.
I'd say, that like everything else with PS, it will continue to get better and better, as the game progresses in production.
-
Not to mention the graphics aren't bad right now, to say the least. Not exactly Xbox 360 material, but it's nice enough...
-
You can scrap point b) as CrystalSpace can already show Doom3-like graphics.
It depends mostly on the available time of the art members and on where the team decides to focus on.
But I think that for example the Bronze Doors look great already.
-
The Bronze Doors are a great example for what CrystalSpace can perform. The only thing that's missing is foliage like grass or smaller rocks.
The gras that can be found around the temple would fit perfectly. Why not wrap all terrain with gras ( like it was in .15 iirc ) and make the draw distance configureable?
If -one fine day- the devs start to add more tech-candy like particles, shaders and *mapping PS could become a real beauty :)
-
It would indeed be nice to have grass available as an on/off option and to have a draw distance slider for it.
-
How would the graphics as of now compare to WoW graphics? I am asking this while I am waiting for it to download, and I am hoping that it will be a nice, free alternative for WoW^^

That requires code CS side unfortunately. Atm it has to be hard-coded.

Planeshift, in my very young opinion, is a wonderful game, especially because of its graphics :). And it is free !

How much is a Xbox 360?Not that I don't think you have a point, but this is an online game. This isn't a high-tech, finished, hundred dollar each gaming device.
Ceylon Roar the black Enkidukai.

If you consider the time and effort put in to create this game, it could be :)

Actually, it isn't a high-tech, finished, hundred dollar game (at least yet). The device most likely was over a hundred dollars. Mine was $900, not counting the monitor (which doesn't come with an Xbox anyway).
