I'm so new I haven't even installed it yet. But I am psyched!! I should really be going to bed, but I am so psyched to try it, first I saw that it works cross platform (Windows Mac and Linux) which made me very interested, seeing as I use all 3. Then I saw it was free, which made me happy, then I saw the forums with all the peoples. Also I want to be part of somthing before it gets big. But this seems to be growing fast.. Any tips before I start? :sorcerer:

Yes. Pick a mother or father who was a miner of some form. Then you aren't stuck holding hides and hocking tails wondering why you are so poor.

My character has high levels in everything that isn't implemented, so he definitely got to enjoy poverty for a while. ;D
Use the plaza, the big windowless tower, and the orange Laanx Temple as landmarks. From the plaza, the windowless tower points north. That will help when people (including NPC's) give you directions. Whenever you find some place, such as the tavern, remember where it is in relation to the plaza. Otherwise it's easy to lose track of where places are.
And beware of falling.

So East Hydlaa is south of the rest of Hydlaa? I'll be the first to admit that I'm not sure of directions as I never really use them but that makes little sence. Would the tower not be to the west of the fountain?

Directions are screwed up in Planeshift anyway, don't pay much attention to them.
As for the tower, it's called "the north exit" there because it points north, not because it's in the northern part of Hydlaa in comparison to the Plaza.
There's another exit at the other side of the tall tower, that would be the West exit.
The East-Hydlaa exit would be the East exit.
And currently there is no South exit.

Ah. It seems much clearer now.
So to sum it up the Windowless tower actually points west from the plaza while the Temple of Laanx points north.
