FIRST! This was topic was a reply to another topic but because registeration something failed and it created a new topic...
Anyway there was some talking about PVP, that they players should be able to attack each others everywhere, but in towns the guards would come to arrest u etc..

I got one question..
How long have the server(s) been down?

On the main site you can read in the news that the AB servers went down around 4 february. There is already a new server but due to the fact that MB is not far from releasing they decided not to put the AB version on the new server.

*Md* - I hate to break it to you, but flaming someone in one post and then saying to \"focus on the discussing the game this forum isn\'t meant to put people down\" is a bit hypocritical. It sets a bad standard, tells people to not listen due to wishy-washy ideals, and has a, \"Do as I say, not as I do.\" ring to it.
Next time do try a quieter approach, do not lower yourself to a flamer\'s level, and it will be better received by fellow members on the boards. :)

I have to agree with Link on this one. Shut up! If you are going to get mad at link, do it for the right reasons and at least structure it like an argument and not like a painting by a 6 year old. I think that the longer people wait here the more aggressive they get ... i mean take a look at links first posts then compare them to now.
If you want to stop newbies to come here and ask stupid questions it wont help if you yell at each and everyone ... because when you have scared away one there will follow another.
You also have to understand that many people today are to lazy to read through a site and a forum only to find out that there is no server (Until recently there wasnt the notice that there are no servers for the Alpha version in the download section). Its easier for them to sign up in the forum and start a thread like \'Whats the server ip\' or \'When will the game be release\'.
The best example for the lack of presenting information is the \'MB Diary\' thread ... right now close to 200 posts. I guess not many new players are keen on reading through all of them to find out how far MB is.
Now rather think about changing the situation and not how to flame a person.
If you want suggestions i can give you some but i think you all know what it could need to improve this whole mess.

And why should I care about my post count? Maybe if I was new that might make sense, but it took me over a year to get to 900 posts, the only reason its this high is because there are VERY few people who have remained as active as they first joined the boards in January last year. If they had, 1000 would have been hit months ago.
Look at the members list, people who have not been here since January are still on the first page, that\'s pretty sad in my opinion.
You can think of me however you want, its not going to change anything, and the only reason I posted on this was to explain to Voldengrath who you were.

Did it ever occur to any of you that this an off-topic forum and not a flame forum? I dont wanna hear \"Well blah blah blah started it!\" Thats childish. Yea poor spelling makes posts hard to understand, and yes there are total dumbasses on this board who deserve to be flamed. (you know very well who you are, if you have any sense that is.) But now that everyones had their go at flaminbg each other, cant you just let it go? Besides, getting pissed,frustrated, and retaliating against flames, you could instead be doing something fun and relaxing. Like playing a game or swimming...I feel sorry for the idiots who throw a fit and start insulting someone when in fact they know nothing about the person. (Just to make it clear, this has not occured on THIS thread with the exception of Md\'s last post). So why bother? Just let it go.

well, just as review, reread the beginning of the thread.
if u really wanted to support him in that late stage, where the topic already was driven wide apart from the initial topic, u shouldn\'t in any case contribute in the already heating battle. instead to lead the topic back u could have posted a simple \" i agree that a good mmorpg needs pvp because...\" completely ignoring where the thread shifted away already, so someone else also intrested in the initial topic again could give u an reply to this and the real discussion would perhaps again have a chance. but instead u joined the misleading part. and after a certain amount of such crap posts like above noone is going to get back to the initial topic anymore because the emotions were heated to much already. just as hint.

About the swimming thing...good point Kiern, I was thinking giant hot tubs and indoor pools.

if u r addicted to online games, and there is a promising game in development, and u read this, and u already experienced the thrill of opening a voice server and the guildmasters of 14 allied guilds joining, and coordinate the preparations for three katapults, 12 big rams, and yar rouges report that the enemy is concentrating his powers in one of their castles and u command the guilds to their positions knowing 350 players r waiting for one single word...,
and after u spoke it - u realize the server gets slow..., than this arena is just a lame compromise.
even if there could b a system also protecting those who don\'t want to contribute because of roleplay.
if u ever felt this or u r even able to imagine it, then it would b selfbetrayl not to try to influence the developers minds and noone is able to convince u about the opposite.

Some ones been playig RvR in DaoC ^^... thats still the best ive seen in an mmorpg (although I havent seen 350 people in one battle yet ^^, 30 on both sides at most). Just a pitty it ends up as a Zerg, and every one rerolls characters to stay in the 20\'s Battle field :( (Forgoten what that Zone was called started with a T i think)
i can deffinately relate to teh guys post... its very exciting even just watching it makes your pulse increase

Yes bigfoot, i played on Avalon Hibernia.
and from the servers start on, we were the underdogs (800hib,1000mid,1600alb).
Only good communications empowered us to hold all 6 relics for more than 3 weeks (btw. the first time on all daoc servers hibernia was able to do that), and this was not zerglion tactics. These sometimes were well organised strategic battles there, where u were told to grab yar 2 parties waiting there behind the hill for further commands, and when u were ordered to come u knew for sure u will get the enemy from behind.
@kiern difficult to read? just because it is one long sentence?
it does not matter how the wars r called, but it matters if u r able to plan and organise the assault by aspects like territory, available resources for siegewarfare and the question who are our best crafters to build them on the battlefield, and how to protect them while steering these weapons.
MMORPG for me is something like an advanced egoshooter for grownups. because kids can\'t deal the excitement of preparing such warfare and hold lines untill they r ordered to attack, because they prefer to get killed just to have seen the enemy because of their singleplayer attitudes. it\'s a matter of discipline and u won\'t have these in arenas.
