Title: Unable to post at Simple Modeling School-thread
Post by: Cherppow on January 15, 2007, 09:02:18 am
Hi,

I've recently been unable to post a reply or edit my last reply on the Simple Modeling School-thread at Fan Art forums. It let's me write the message, but when I click "post", I'm given:

Code: [Select]
403 Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /smf/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I've tried with different browsers and different forum themes, but they didn't make any difference. As far as I know the thread shouldn't be locked. Any tips, suggestions or similar problems?

Thanks,
 - Cherppow

Cherppow,

What theme are you using on the forum the default or one of the others? If using the default one Karyuu made try using one of the others that are installed. [check your profile if not sure]

I've had this occur several times when I was trying to send PMs - frustrating beyond belief. After a while however either the issue disappeared (only to sneak back at an unpredictable later time) or I think I ended up rephrasing my text and changed something that allowed it to go through. Either way, annoying mystery to me...

Hmm, how long is the post you're trying to make?
Try to post only half of it first and see if it works.

Hi,

Thanks for the tips everyone. Yes, I had tested different themes and also posting only a smaller part of the whole text, but didn't work back then. Few moments ago I managed to post a header. Alone it is pretty useless though, it now doesn't let me add a single word. :)

It's all a bit embarassing actually.

Well, if someone else is able to and wants to be nice, can post the next part for me. It can be found here: http://rafb.net/p/0R6sAO55.html

*edit*

Thank you for the help everyone. Here is a warm cup for your troubles

Have to keep in mind, pythons & forums make a bad combination.

Thanks,

I'm trying to edit in the post content, and the error pops up no matter where I post on the sentence about the p y t h o n  e r r o r.

I can't even type it here without the spaces. Cruel irony.

*edit*

Added empty tags between the letters, seems to work fine.

*edit2*

Yeah, that phrase was definitely the culprit.

A certain word was used that was interpreted by SMF as a piece of actual code?

well the 404 bit is because the 403 error page it tried to load doesn't exist on the server. I dont know it just seems like a strange error as its a kind of error you get when users dont have read access to an html\php\etc file.

Might be the same issue than explained here: Having problems with mod_security? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=34270.0;all)
