A Promotional Thread should be something more concise, allowing people to easily, and briefly, get a general view of your guild. For instance, I don't feel the least inclined to read this story, as I know nothing about the guild yet, how it works, what it does. So since I can't feel the least attracted to it, I'm not willing to know deeper about it.

If you already have a Promotional Thread with the above information, then I'd convince you to write something as this in the Communitive Writting part of the forum and linking it to your thread here. It would make it look better.

Thank you, I'm totally new to forums. This is my first. I have no idea how to do what you suggested, Bit I will try to find out. Any instruction or education on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

I've read a bit through your website and I have come up with the following critic. Before releasing it though, I'd like to say I appreciate the way you've dealt with critic up until now and how you are dedicated to the improvement of your guild. I wish you the best of luck!

To start, I believe you give too much importance to what we call "Power Leveling." In other words, you seem to require that your players max out their stats, but apparently you don't care how they develop their character at all. This means you will be prone to get moronic players with high stats, a guild that isn't fun to anyone but your own members and a frown from some people who'd rather not have so much players wasting away all that the beautiful setting of Planeshift has to offer. *grins*

I'm not overly fond with the introduction of Paladins into PS. Like Zan mentioned in another thread, it's like Samurai, only it strikes as less than odd since it doesn't sound so foreignish. The Dark Empire has the title of Knight as well, something we couldn't get rid off. Just so you know I aim at everyone :P. Anyway, since my lack of originality is apparent as well, if you can come up with something different, do tell.

Third point would be about the website. It doesn't look nice and it's hard to read. There should be more sections... Check out some other guild's website to have a better idea. I know this one isn't much (http://darkempire.xordan.com (http://darkempire.xordan.com)) but it's done with wordpress, something even I can use!

Last, but not the least, I think you should take better advantage of Planeshift's setting, to illustrate your guild in a unique way, rather than having it sound like the normal, boring Paladin guild. For instance, mention Hydlaa's and Oja's need of a suitable civilian guard, to complement each town's own guard, or justify the need for a force that protects that roads and outer regions from evil threats. We could surely use that!
That way we'd see the Paladins as true Paladins, plus as true people of Yliakum. A Force that ensures the safety of people, walking the earth to find criminals and bringing judgement upon them.

I'm sure you can do it. And if you need some help, ask around.

After reading it through... My considered opinion is "What Sangwa said, but nastier."

Just to say that we've actually gotten the "Knight" title out of the Dark Empire. It's currently Footman, though that doesn't help you in the slightest. It does gives me that extra edge in disliking the usage of said term.

Thank you for your opinions. I do listen to all suggestions but stepping on settings toes is not what we want to do. Paladins in game are helpful, honest, kind and just. A Paladin will help all those in need. Paladins are not powerlevelers however in order to protect the innocent from harm, the need to be strong is there. We will always seek peacful solutions but do not shy away from defending ourselfs and others from harm. Recently  I have conducted one wedding rehersal. Allthough the wedding never got off the ground, it was inspiring. I will soon be holding a service for Talad meeting once a month in the rising sun. Place to be named in the future. Paladins do roleplay and make ourselfs available. We have solved a great many conflicts and will continue. We are not a guard, bounty hunters or a force we are only commanded by the love of Talad. We fight only for what is right. The right thing to do is most often not the eisiest. We are not to be defined outside of the game. If you wish to truly know us then come meet us and see. Paladins is a word that has new meaning in PS and we define it in game.

I would like to join!
I messaged a recruiter(his name escapes me) and am still waiting for a response.
I hope to be a part of the family.

Edit:I have decided to become an Outlaw for their friendliness and less strict leveling requirements

*smiles*

Well many of the outlaws aren't acting very outlaw like in my eyes although the last months it seems to haave been better. That or I might have been hanging around the right outlaws ;)

Anyhow from outlaw to paladin. That seems a tad strange I have to say.

Outlaws are people too, we have civilized moments, our true colors show if you're ever alone on any of the major roads... But I make good and well to let the underlings know that assaulting in hydlaa is suicide. And many of us do not wish to let others know that we are outlaws... So within the city it is not uncommon to hear of us using manners and being upstanding citizens...

OOCly however, we aren't bad people... And many people join guilds for ooc reasons, they just later build a IC reason about it. But in truth the very idea of a guild chat tab, and guild tag is ooc to the extream. If I had my way guilds wouldn't exist... Instead it would be affiliations, and one person could belong to several...

Ahem, but this is not about MY ideas now is it?

Its about the fact that we can be civilized should the situation call for it. Outlaw does not mean barbarian... It just means we're greedy and have no shame when it comes to getting trias... Now of course we have common sense, we're not going to attack random people in the plaza... or walk around being asses to further show our affiliation... Of course as such has happened, but such crimes that happen in the plaza usually go unchecked, it is important that when caught we outlaws face justice. There are many people who need to learn as such in our guild, I wont name names but we all know them... *cough*

But in the end ooc does play a huge effect IC, if you hate someone to the bone oocly, but ICly it would seem your characters would have no bad blood, I doubt you'll join their guild, even if its perfect for your character.

Paladin to outlaw? why so strange? People can repent from a crime filled past, and people can always fall back into a crime filled future. I think you imperials underestimate our RPing ability too much, of course I've heard the generalizations... Oh outlaws suck at role playing, yeah yeah blah blah... I admit once upon a time I agreed with such, but the outlaws have developed greatly into a powerful roleplaying installment. And quite frankly it has more growing to do, but I wont tolerate imperials pointing fingers... for allow me to say, you have three pointing back.

Consider this post a mixture of my ooc feelings, and ic feelings...

Edit: this is also a response to all those ooc tells I receive in game about the guild, and to all those PMs here on the forum I receive. Ta-da, heres your answer.

Nobody was pointing fingers at the Outlaws, Earl ... only at Matis for his reasons of joining your band. He chose the path of a tria-hungry lawless character because the guild is nice. Which makes me wonder if he even knew what the Outlaws stand for.

As for the Outlaws as a guild, it seems they have a negative reputation to work off since they used to be known for their troublemaking ability instead of their RP abilities. I'm glad to hear that changed and have to admit I haven't run into any outlaws acting like criminals or warmongers lately, which is a good sign to me.

Only thing I would suggest is some filtering of new members. There have been a few I've seen that are just plain silly but they were very new so it doesn't reflect on the guild as a whole in my view. Other people are quicker to jump to conclusions which is why I advise this.
