Alright. Debate thread here we come.
Going off of this thread: http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=27442.0
What's your thoughts on older siblings trying to be "helpful"? I mean, sure they mean well and all with their actions but sometimes I wish they would butt out a bit.
So what's your thoghts?
Personally, I don't really have a deffinate opinion on it. Depends on the situation to me. It's nice to see that they care and all, but sometimes they just end up causing more work for me. I don't know, maybe sometimes I'd wish they just butt out of things and let me take care of things on my own.
I come from a big family. Lots of relatives, so maybe someone that is an only child or something could have a very diifferent view about this.
Yeah, this isn't some type of philosophy or discusion about procrastination thread, so who knows how well this may turn out, but I figured I'd throw it out there and see what the response will be. Oh, and to get back at her just a little. ( @Rin: :P )

Hey as long as you are not getting a daily pummeling (older brothers stink) it is all good, and if she has some hot girlfriends it can be a definite bonus.

I don't stink :[
And little brothers are annoying as it is...
But to get back on topic. I haven't had that experienced cause i'm the oldest in two families, so I don't really have a view in these things :] Though i've had the experience of having many siblings and a large family, many relatives and stuff with toast.
It's rather cool. We know we embarass each other, or have the ability to embarass each other so we don't butt on each other, that's left for the oldbies

I never butt in. Let the annoying little brat deal with his own problems. Unless he's like, being threatened or something. But that's more an excuse to start a fight... :P

I've been pretty much brought up as an only child, even tough I have half brothers and sisters, but they are much older than me and also have always lived elsewhere.
Someways it has had positive effects not having brothers\sisters grow up with me.
Someways is has had negative effects not having brothers\sisters grow up with me.

Well, Im an older bro and I have a step-brother thats only a few months younger than me. At school, I had to always watch his back in case one of the "football kids" tried to beat the snot out of him. He hated. He never wanted my help. But I knew that he would be even more mad at me if I just watched. Social problems... Well when I tried to help him he would jump on me, so I stopped. :surrender:

The positive/negative effects of a families actions depend on the way an individual can cope with the situation. Everyone has their own way of dealing with things. There can be completely different outcomes of an identical situation from two similar families.
I am the youngest of 5 and played many diferent roles throughout the years, from the outcast to the pillar. As a chubby little kid with a speach impediment my siblings were always ready to come to my aid in public, at home was a different story ;) We, just like any other family had many disputes between us, and our parents usually let us resolve it ourselves, and being the youngest this didnt always work out in my favore ;D I concider myself very lucky to have the brother and sisters I do, there is nothing we wouldnt do for eachother and its always been that way. There are less than a handfull of times where they have tried to 'butt in' my personal affairs, and with a simple discussion it was quickly over.
My fiance's family is very different, and confuses me to no end. She is the youngest of 8, and there is a 10 year gap between her and the youngest son. They have absolutly no regard for one another, thankfully my fiance has distanced herself from them. They steal from eachother, lie to others about their family just to create trouble, sleep with eachothers husbands........... Jerry Springer would have a field day with this bunch. My fiance had a 50K trust fund from when her father passed away, and her older sister was the executor of it. Thats right you guessed it, every cent was gone by the time she was 18, LOL she didnt even know about it untill she was 30 ::|
So Neko, I think a little 'butting in' on a public forum is not that big of a deal, but thats just my opinion :)

Hehe, my sister is older than me and we both get along great. Theres the occaional argument, she'll tell me to shut up if she's in a bad mood or somthing, I'll tell her to F off. Its all good. Then again i tell anyone who's agressive towars me to F off so theres no change there.
When it comes down to it, if she's in trouble or somthing I'll try and help, damn right I'll kill the first guy to step outta line :D

Why is it that I'm the Irish Catholic, and I have the smallest family? :P
