Title: Question on Updating to New Version
Post by: Zippy the Wonderbat on February 08, 2007, 03:14:28 pm
I've read the posts and I see that to update to the new version you have to download the entire program all over again.  No problem but I was wondering what that does to the characters I've already started.  Is everything about the character stored on the server, or is there character specific information stored on my hard drive.  If it's stored on the hard drive are there instructions somewhere on how to import the character information into the new version, or does all that happen automatically?

Thanks....Zippy the Wonderbat

Character information is saved on the server, program settings and logs are saved on your hard drive.

Yes, your character is stored on the server.  Before you wipe your local install and reinstall the new, you may wish to make a copy of /planeshift/data/options/shortcutcommands.xml.  This way you don't loose your shortcuts.   :D

I'd just copy the entire options folder, keep all your control settings and everything too
