Title: Random Teleportation

Okay, I was just casually minding my own business in-game - chatting with Paro and crafting by Harnquist - when suddenly, without warning, I was teleported to the cave in the Bronze Doors area!

Luckily I managed to grab the molten steel out of the furnace before I was whisked away, but not-so-lucky was the fact that I forgot to apply the BD fix to the new updated client, so I immediately crashed out.

After applying the fix, I logged back in, and yes - I'm still in Bronze Doors.


I'm just wondering what the heck I did. I'd never heard of that happening before, but I suppose I haven't been around that long either...



Edit: Changed the title... for clarity's sake...

Yeah, that did puzzle me. I thought maybe it was a 'holy-crap-I-thought-I-was-sending-tells-to-someone-completely-different' sort of holy crap.

Anyone else encountering vortexing? It happened to me twice from Harnquist's to Arena. Both times while I was in the middle of a trade with another player.

Is it completely random or is there some sort of trigger?

It happened twice to Alexanddra. Both times she was typing and upon pressing enter she was transported first to the sewer then to the arena.

Maybe the server takes the text for the /teleport command?

Actually, now that you mention it, I just finished typing "Hey, have you seen the new area yet?" when I suddenly teleported away.

For a minute I thought some GM or even you heard me and decided to send me there for some odd reason...

One of my characters was transported from Oja to the Arena.Bit of a surprise, hit a couple of things, and wandered into the Plaza....Transported to the Arena.Hit something else headed off and got as far as the Library when, yes you guessed it.....Arena.After a few more attempts to escape I gave up, didnt log back on for a couple of hours and it has not happened since.

I think in both instances in my case, the teleport happened right after the trade was accepted.

There was some chatting going on so I think we may be on to something here. We chatting using tells so maybe that had something to do with it?

Forgot to check the log files ... duh

Maybe it thinks /tell=/teleport? Or maybe Players are now GMs and GMs are now players?

FYI: No gm has been teleporting players this is a bug on the server and tells have nothing to do with teleporting

So what does have to do with it?

Is it just completely random, or does the server specifically hate us? :P
