I downloaded the 3.018 nd so far everything is running ok. The problem started when i tried to enter Bronze Door. Previous version 3.017 allowed me to enter BD if i run the java application called Startplaneshiftfullbright.jar
The new client i downloaded does not have this..so i am back to admiring BD from afar. I triend command line with the "-fullbright" option but it says "no directory".
Help, anyone?

The proper command is now (from within the directory where psclient.app is located):
./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient_static --fullbright
Please only use it to get around the bronze doors loading problem since it takes some of the fun and mystery out of dark areas.

Thank you dfryer. And thank you again for a mac client. very good job.

The terminal window reads,
XXXXXXXXXX:/Applications/Juegos/Planeshift3D/psclient.app XXXXXXXX$
I type in, ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient_static -fullbright
which reads,
XXXXXXXXXXXXX:/Applications/Juegos/Planeshift3D/psclient.app XXXXXXXXX$ ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient_static -fullbright
And I get,
-bash: ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient_static: No such file or directory
What am I doing wrong?
-
instead of ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient_static -fullbright
try just Contents/MacOS/psclient_static -fullbright or /Contents/MacOS/psclient_static -fullbright
-
Contents/MacOS/psclient_static -fullbright
That did it, and to think one little / does so much...
thanks..
-
Better yet, start in /Applications/Juegos/Planeshift3D/ and then ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient_static -fullbright , then you're less likely to encounter strange errors.

Hi folks,
I've searched topics where that could be well explained, but i haven't found exactly how the -fullbright stuff works. I mean, how it's supposed to allow the entrance in the Bronze Doors region without crashing and what is the exact thing to do to start PS in -fullbright. If there's a topic about this that i would have missed in my search, could someone give me the link? Otherwise, could someone give more info about this? Thanks.

The easiest way is to use PSClientCMD (from the Guide sticky) and just put in the command "-fullbright" (there are instructions in the Guide).
-
Alright, thanks Chaos. I have the PSClientCMD now. So, the thing i've got to do to hopefully enter the Bronze Doors without crashing is to launch the client with -fullbright before i go to the loading region?

My Mac is too slow to run the game with shadows (G4 1,2 Ghz), fullbright is actually only way how to have PS playable (and enjoyable). BTW what Mac it takes to have the game smooth without fullbright? I guess new intel could do...

The lightmaps (in bronzedoors especially) cause slow performance on the Mac because of the way they are uploaded to the graphics card. This varies by card type, and the severity varies with level. We're looking at some other approaches that might sidestep this problem.
Also, I do this on a 700mhz G4, so I have no idea what kind of a mac it takes to get good performance :)

Oh, my extra graphite tower will work then? Cooooool....
-
errr, i'm really sorry but i can't figure out how this command works... What am i supposed to do ? Open the Terminal, drag and drop the psclient.app in there and type the command ?

Please don't resurrect ancient threads! There's a better way of doing this outlined in the Guide. Please see the P.P.P.S. section in the guide. iLock.
