Hello @all,
I want to found a new dwarf guild. If you are interested, please let me know.
For further information check http://masadvertth.eamped.com/index.php (http://masadvertth.eamped.com/index.php).
First it should be a german only guild but as some members explained to me that it will not work, I changed it to an english spoken dwarf guild.
Suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance

A joke I hope. Have a look through the forums and you will see how guilds that favour one IC race or one OCC nationality or guilds with no purpose are frowned upon. Your guild is all three.
-
One word ...
Bah! :'(
-
I can understand if you don't like the idea very much, but think also about the ppl who don't speak english as first language. And also I thought that the planeshift community is open to everyone.
So don't make such comments. If you don't want to say anything useful, simply don't say anything.
-
Then what for are you saying?
-
but think also about the ppl who don't speak english as first language.
Most don't speak English as their first language here, no problems at all. Multiple persons have tried setting up guild like these and it was clearly explained why that is wrong. Search a bit if you like.
And also I thought that the planeshift community is open to everyone.
Yes we are and it's totally unrelated too.
-
The planeshift community is indeed open to all players .. however the planeshift world, and guilds are a part of that, are predefined. In Yliakum the language or even the nationality German does not exist! Thus a guild which only consists of germans should definitely not exist.
This has nothing to do with people who don't speak english as a first language .. english isn't my first language and everyone is free to speak whichever language they want in private. Public chat in Planeshift is encouraged to happen in english and guilds that unify a certain nationality or language are strongly discouraged. They tear away from the immersion for those who want to roleplay as good as possible.
-
Allright. Thanks a lot for your explanation.
Will the guild then have more acceptance if i turn it into an english spoken guild?
For me it is not really a problem to change this.
-
Heya
There are already at least 2 large guilds that preffer german players, for the same reason that you mentioned.
In my opinion a guild should be based on a real IC story and IC happenings, not on their member's native language - and as you noticed that's the opinion of most around here.
Build your guild around a nice story or something, but please forget about the "only germans" thingy. It sucks :P
Greetings

I changed it now to an english speaking guild so that everyone can join, not only german speaking players.
I agree with some of you that it will not really work if I make restrictions to the language.
Also I agree with the argument that german is not known in the world of planeshift and so the guild will not meet the requirements of roleplaying.

Listen to Peeg. Also. read the Player (http://www.planeshift.it/guide/en/index.html), Roleplay (http://www.planeshift.it/roleplay.html) and Guild (http://www.planeshift.it/guilds.html) Guides.
EDIT: Sangwa wrote this. ^^ Forgot to log off of my sister's account.

Let me see....
Way of the Hammer
*cough* "Hell Dwarves"
You will need to make a really different guild if you want to make it unique even though it's a dwarves guild.
-
What we really need here is a guild history, ranks, rules, and any other pertinent information you can think of :]
-
I think a list of ranks and such (see Kary's post) would be good, and I also think that if you have the guild favoring DWARFS only, then you need to have a lot of support and groundwork for it. Set up a website, contact several players Ingame, and talk to the locals about what they would think. Also, your guild (again see Kary's post) needs to have a point or purpose, it can't really be just a guild to "hang out" with people, that won't last long. Good idea, just needs some groundwork laid out for a strong foundation.
-
just do IC guild, which members can speak english when interacting with others. The rest doesnt matter at all.
-
I know there is still some work to do. Like a good history and story.
Also some suggestions from people who want to join the guid are very welcome.
For the web page, I have no idea how do make one, therefore I hope some future members could help for this subject.
It should not just be a guild to "hang out" with people, but I also don't want to restrict people in what they should do ingame.
If a member whants to go mine and after some time he whants to go for quests, then he should be able to do this.
Again, I will be very happy for any help.

Think about this: why are you starting a guild? :) Or most importantly, why is your character starting a guild? Does he or she just want to lead something? If that's the case, you may be better off waiting until you have a more solid idea, or joining an already existing guild to understand how they should function.
Stay away from cookie-cutter ideas - which are basically guilds that have been done a million times before. If there are 10 guilds already dedicated to "peace-keeping," for example, it might do you more good to join one instead of starting yet another. Try to think of something unique, something that will draw people's attention. The problem is that we cannot make your guild for you, you have to contribute ideas :]
So where would you like to go?
-
I will not start a guild just because I want to lead something... The leading should be done by a council of 5 members where every decision is voted by the council.
The purpose of creating a guild is that I want to share ingame information with other people or members. I had also a look on already exsisting guilds. A good one which I know is "The way of the Hammer" but it became too structured where a higher ranked member tells you what you have to do and I don't like that idea. I want to be free to do what I want. If I want to go mine, I will go mine. If I want to go explore, I go explore. I don't need someone inside the guild who tells me "You have to do this and that..."
That was the main purpose why my character will start a guild. And I was hoping to find some people who feel and think the same way.
If the guild has later enough members, there will always be something to do for everyone.
-
Something like the Knowledge Seekers, perhaps? Have you taken a look at that guild?
-
hmmm.... I will take a look at that guild. Thanks for this info.
-
One word ...
Bah! :'(
3 words actually.
-
Was that nessesary? Did it really add?
-
I have a funny impression that most of dwarf characters in the game join dwarf-exclusive guilds.
Not sure about Enkidukais though, still it seems to me that most dwarves are in such guilds.
Dwarf-only guilds, this is a niche that is getting too filled in Planeshift.
-
Good luck with the dwarf guild, you'll find it hard getting members at times.....after all its a select few to choose from.
But good luck setting up history, ranks and aims ect.
-
hmm dwarves have a great pride for their race. Where did I hear that before? ;)
As for enkies there are only three enkie guilds I believe one only allowing fenkies, but don't get the impression most enkies are members of these guilds. Have several in the Dark Empire for example. Hardly any dwarves though hmmm.
Well anyhow starting a guild where you share info but don't boss eacother around is a good IC reason to start a guild, but as been said the Knowledge Seekers seem to fit the bill so have a look there.
