Title: How to Make Planeshift run on an Intel Mac
Post by: KingNerd Nerdleton on March 01, 2007, 01:36:40 pm
Hope this helps:

Open up the file Planeshift3D/data/config/r3dopengl.cfg in a text editor, and finding this line:
;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_compression = false
and removing the leading semicolon.

We know (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=26787.msg315185#msg315185). It was suggested by our Mac dev. Though I will add it to the Guide. ;)

Hi everybody, I was wondering how I can actually change that and it will let me save it to "config".  When I try to it just says that its text only and won't let me overwrite it.  Any ideas what the problem is?

You're doing it as it says in the Guide? What is the exact error message you are getting?

First, after I change it and try to save it, I get this "This file "r3dopengl.cfg is read-only.  Attempt to overwrite?"  then I hit overwrite and it says "Could not save document as "r3dopengl.cfg" in folder "config".

Its wierd, not sure why.  Im editing the text with text edit.

Ok. Three questions:
1. Select the config folder and go to File->Get Info. What does it say under the "Where" field?
2. What does it say under Ownership and Permissions?
3. Are you logged in as an administrator?

1.  The "where" field it says:   /Volumes/PS_Install/Planeshift3D/data.
2.  It says "You can: Read & Write" and under details it says "Owner: (My name), Access: Read & Write, Group: (My name), Access" Read Only, Others: Read Only.

It won't let me change the things, the "Apply to enclosed items..." button is disabled, so are the drop down menues.  When I unlock it, it only lets me change "Owner" and "Group".

3.  Yes, im an admin.

Copy the Planeshift 3D folder from the PS_Install volume to your hard drive. It should work then.

Even when you try to attempt to overwrite? Try changing the permissions on that file so that you can Read & Write. Also, check if it's locked. (You can do both of these things from the Get Info panel).

The Planeshift3D/data/config bits are directories - folders. The file you're looking for is the very last portion: r3dopengl.cfg. So you need to go into your Planeshift3D folder, then the data folder in there, then the config folder, and in that config folder will be the .cfg file you need.
