Try and guess what the picture is supposed to be, when someone is right i'll post the name and give 'em a flower :flowers: :lol:
This is just a litle thread where i'll post unusual pictures from everyday life and then people can try and guess what it really is.
Edited the picture a litle for lighting as it was kinda dark so... let the guessing begin.

At it's full resolution I can't tell... It could be stars photographed with a lens that has a high amount of aberration.
Or it could be a bubble tipped anemone - somehow I doubt that though... ;D

I doubt it's stars.. it looks like there are two fingers in the top-left corner holding something way to close to an out-of-focus camera.
But I'm prolly totally wrong :)
Almost like it's a reflection of two fingers holding perhaps the camera up close to a window with rain on it.
(EDIT: Drey beat me to that... but still I think it may be wrong.)
But that's not a defined 'thing' really, so it's gotta be something else.

I was guessing the two "reddish" areas where from neighboring clusters. But now that you say out of focus fingers and rain on glass.... I'm liking it. It is also weird that the two yellow "lights" are in focus (or at least better focus) then the surrounding lights.
So it could be a picture of an on coming car (or two light poles in the backyard) through a rain soaked window.

I'd say it's taken from the back of a car on a rainy night. What you're looking at is the back window of the car. It was taken with the flash on so that the drops on the window shine white. In the background I believe I see the headlights of another car, in the upper left corner are the back lights of a car going in the opposite direction.

I dont think it is water because the dots overlap which water tends not to do cos it merges (probably wrong, and it will be water now). Also I liked the idea of head lights expect they are abit wonky to be headlights thought it could be on a corner. I dont actualy have an idea of what it could be. Everything i think of i can think of a reason why it isnt, which is getting in the way alot.

I keep looking at it over and over (my employer's money hard at work ;D ). I still think it is out of focus, but the overall image looks to have a shape to it and not water effects on a sheet of glass. I'm still mystified by the yellowish lights - could they be reflections from the flash? Seems to me that a flash is more blueish white.

If you darken the pic, it looks like stars again.

Being in northern ontario, under the influence of anti- freeze, I have taken a few to many of these pictures :P

this is indeed a outdoor picture but this might surprice you, the light's aren't from cars, they are street lights... heh well guess on i guess ;D

Maybe the picture is taken from a front porch, looking into the street/streets during a heavy snow. The glow at the upper-left hand corner is the light from the porch that's behind the camera. eh? EH?

I guess you are looking for a more detailed description.
I think the picture was taken behind glass, either a windshield or maybe evn a buss stop shelter. You can see what looks like flash reflections in the centre.

it's taken outside with the flash on, not from indoors or inside a car and i wasn't standing under anything and not getting wet ;)

Now watching it closely and ignoring the "bubbles"(that may be the trick to deceive people), it looks like... some kind of fog or smog?

I'm going to feel completely stupid if I'm wrong but I htought it was obvious all along what the first image is. It looks to me like a picture of frozen water on a hard surface - hard to tell on what - but it looks like something from an ice storm. Look at this enhanced version I made. You can see more shape and depth. Still - looks like zoomed in blurry ice on something.

Couldnt think of a really interesting picture but then I noticed my desktop background. This is a section from the middle right hand edge of the image and really does contain all you would really need to see. (the full pic gives not much new info really, its just much too big.)

Its a picture of a Peacekeeper nuclear weapon delivery vehicle, an MIRV (Multiple Independently-targetable Re-entry Vehicle) test. No warheads on board, just the MIRV :)

This is a real, physical object. The yellow is from a filter.
There is nothing "wet" in the picture; however, it was formed from "wet processing".

Yes, taken with a microscope - but not submicron. The large squares are on the order of 250 microns.

This is the "backside" of a Silicon wafer after something went "horribly wrong" during an etch process. Made a nice picture though.

The goal of this project was to create Si microchannels on the frontside of the wafer.
This is done by taking a Si wafer (polished on both sides) and coating both sides with 2 microns of Silicon Nitride (SiN) and cutting an image of the channels in the SiN. The SiN acts as a hard mask (think stencil) to the etchant.
We then etch the Si to form the channels. This is a timed process, so it just runs for X amount of time and is taken out of the etchant.
What happened here was that there was only 1.2 microns of SiN as a hard mask. So there wasn't enough SiN to protect for the entire time. Once the SiN was gone, the Si surface was exposed to the etchant.
So the "squares" are pin holes in the SiN that have been etching before the majority of the SiN was etched away. This shows the Si crystal lattice. It looks like inverted Pyramids when etched.
The "circles" are formed once the SiN was totally etched away. The etchant is free to attack the Si from all angles.
The "triangular"ish thingy is a hole from the front side of the wafer clear through to the back. A catastrophic failure.

Well, I am definitely disappointed with you people. You claim to be gamers and cannot identify a graphic from one of the most iconic board games of all times. Each piece is about 1 inch (2.54cm) square.
The main playing board came in two pieces that folded in half. There were a number of sub-boards that were lightweight cardboard each of which had a different terrain theme. The main board was for movement and recruiting, the three counters with no writing are stack counters for different factions. When two stacks of different faction occupied the same spot on the main map one of them must become eliminated and battles were fought on the sub-boards.
