Title: Anti-Complaint Department
Post by: Ice_Stovo on March 25, 2007, 09:40:27 pm
I was reading through the complaint department section. People are pretty rude there and say a lot of nasty things. I am making this topic as an oposite of that section. Feel free to post here things that you like in planeshift. Let's encourage devs a little !!!  ;)

So here is my list: $playername takes a seat near ... function (great will be if it work for other sitting charakters too, not just NPC's)
Animations of Dwarves (Running dwarf looks really cute)
"Hall of mirrors" effect (the effect when buildings shout be drawn over by a skybox in next frame, looks really nice especially in the winch)

This are the first three thing that come on my mind, i will maybe add more later.

The fact that the Devs let me play in their sand pit free of charge.
The way the Devs take all the crap people throw at them and still keep doing what they do.
Each and very update that has been released since I started playing.

Those are my 1st three off the top of my head, il think some more whenever im in game no doubt.

Good points:

- It works on Linux
- It is free(in the sense of price, in the other sense not completely - Engine free / Art isn't)
- It attracted a much better community than most other MMO(RP?)Gs
- We can look at certain weird graphical bugs and screenshot and post them here to make jokes. :P
- Piles of dust now can't be used by "leets" to make immersion-destroyers "armies of dwarves" (It wasn't funny)
- Guilds' supported reason to exist isn't to form groupments of leets and powerlevellers to "PK da n00bs" and those "leet" guilds rarely last long.
- Easier to find roleplayers here than using IRC, and unlike Forum RPGs, it  works on real time
- You don't need to have a "level 100" character to be respect and known in the community

I hate Complaint forums for games... I mean in most games the Complaint forum is mostly filled with people being rude...

Well. What I like about PS is that its free, it’s different to other MMORPG and it REALLY is a RPG. Not just a sword fighting game which has RPG slapped on it, like most MMORPG's out today...

Wow... There I go! Let me in on this!

- I like the community in the broadest meaning of the word community. Their RP, their inovativity, their relation towards the project and whatnot.
- I like how PS quests are the best devellloped when it comes to story line, being challenging,  and overall originallity of all games I have ever seen. and is only getting better mechanic wise.
- I like the state of devellopment, in which new goodies are seen on a frequent base.
- I like that there are people here that will never make a single buck, yet put their effort in this project like mad.
- I love the fact that there are so many features already, you can do whatever you want even if mechanics do not support it.
- I love Stonebreakers
- I love players that love the game so much they take effort in creating threads that look only to positive stuff.

Only reason this list ends already is because I have to leave shortly.

How upsetting is it that I had to remove posts from this thread.

What is wrong with some of you. Keep positive, or keep out of positive threads. Sheesh.

The people who complain about the game usually do so because they care about the game and they think they can make a positive difference by drawing attention to some aspect of the game that needs improvement.

Their reasons are not being questioned. Some of their methods, however, leave much to be desired.

Things I like about the game...

1) The forum I spend more time here than playing due to a general lack of free time lately :(
2) The Hall Of Mirrors Effect (I have missed this in the last two weeks something must have changed coz i just don't see it any more)
3) Mining though boring for conversation it is a good way to earn some quick cash
4) non-combatative leveling system... I like gaining exp and not having to "gain a level" like it's normaly done (combat specific) in this game you can "level up" without any combat at all :)
5) Multi-platform I am trying to get IRL friends to play it coz of this as I stick to Linux and they stick to Mac OS or worse Windoze(ZZZzzzz) (off topic side issue... Why is it that I can run a VM session of windows faster  and with greater stability than with it being installed natively?)
6) RPers and nor OOCers
7) RP not PK
8 ) Dwarves
9) Death Realm

I'm sure this list will grow in time...

EDIT: fixed the error that made 8) not 8 )

Their reasons are not being questioned. Some of their methods, however, leave much to be desired.

Then why are people making lists of the good things about Planeshift instead of posting tutorials on constructive criticism?  No, their reasons are most definately being questioned.

Ahh, the things I love about Planeshift.

1. Karyuu's patience, especially with people like Zanzibar who can't let anything go (still love ya mate.)
2. Dev's dedication to the project, and all their fine work
3. Most of the community, and their equally dedicated work on the game, (If you could call it work on the game, but hey, they do improve the atmosphere. More like positive contribution and attitude toward the game.)
4. Did I mention the dev's dedication, and Karyuu's patience? Well, there's a second time.
5. It's FREEEEE

If it seems like I don't let things go, it's only because I'm right almost all of the time.

I like having my serious ideas accepted or intelligently disputed.

I like progressing my character
I like telling tall tales in character, once in a while anyway.

I HATE the game for all the reasons listed because it makes it so damn addictive!!! I hate the fact you cant escape planeshift! Other than that I love it. Especialy the fact there are people here who chillax about their character and dont feel obliged to make the 30,000,000 ulber lord of doom. So yeah, the game that introduced me to RP and got me hooked.

Nothing wrong with complaining. Just overdoing it. And as for the rest of you, You basically said the same thing over and over, yata yata yata.  How about the fact you get some leniance and free speech on this forum? appreciate it.
