I've never found any info on this and with all the new quests being introduced to the world I'm hoping there is a quick way to ask if an NPC has a quest available. Is it possible to to assign a shortcut that would be activated in the NPC window. More specifically, is it possible to have an NPC selected and then with a shortcut ask him/her "Can I help you?" or are shortcuts only possible in the main window?

Greetings Mabster!
Right-Click on a Blank Button in the Shortcuts menu - there are 100 buttons to choose from:
EDIT SHORTCUT...
Name: Quest-?
/target clear
/target nearest npc
/tellnpc Hello $target
/tellnpc Give me a quest
/tellnpc Can I help you?
/tellnpc Do you need help?
/tellnpc What do you need?
There... that should do the trick for you. That will all work on just one Shortcut Button... just hit Return or Enter Key at the end of each /command line except the last line.
Oh! ...and don't forget to Hit the DONE button at the bottom to SAVE all that hard work! ;)

That is superb! Thank you so much for this. I wassn't aware of the /tellnpc command. I also wasn't aware that there were different questions to ask to get quests. I assumed "Can I help you?" would get me a quest if the NPC had one.

This is the first thread where I found the /tellnpc command! Didn't find it in the manuals either - maybe I was reading with my eyes closed or something. Anyway thanks a lot, I can stop smashing my head against the wall now. ;)

"$target" never works for me. It just reads as "$target".
By the way, not all quests will be given simply by asking for a quest. Sometimes you need to have a discussion with the NPC about his or her life before he or she will offer you the job.

Lin: That command is a lot newer than the Player Guide, so it's no surprise that you haven't found it in there :) We need to get an update, but at the same time things are changing or being added quite frequently, so we don't have time for a near-perfect guide maintenance system. The in-game help may have a bit more in terms of commands available to players.

I have noticed this also when just typing it in, however if I have it set as a hotkey it will show my targets name when pressed.

Have been using the shortcut for awhile, and it works great. Thanks for the tip.
