Hi Everyone,
I could not find any area for coming questions. I am sorry if there is a wrong area for it.
I would like to get some information about Planetshift.
1-) Is it legal to make my own modified planetshift release and open a server?
2-) How many users can handle Planetshift server?
3-) Does it have any common bugs, is it stable?
Thanks from now on,
Ricardo

1) yes, it is legal provided you dont use any of the copyrighted content, any stories, quests, art, maps, names, and virtually anything else that makes PS unique.
2) I think the current PS server handles around 200 people pretty well, not sure of the exact figure.
3) Have you not played the game :P It is a bit of both, its pretty stable but it all depends what version you get and how long it has been since signifigant changes (things always get a bit buggy after big changes as far as I can tell)

A slight addition to Idoru's first answer:
You are not allowed to run another public PlaneShift server for player use. You can have a private server for your own testing purposes, but that is all. With modifications, it depends - what exactly are you planning to do? If we have details, we can better explain the legalities. If you are going to provide your own art, your own rules, content, etc., and basically make it another game entirely, you are welcome to - the code is opensource after all. But everything PS-related would have to change in regards to our art and story.
I believe the 200 player limit is solely a thing of Laanx, our current server. There is no limit coded into the game itself, so whatever your server can handle. But again remember that public servers for playing the game are not allowed. To run a public server you must be approved - and thus considered reliable and trustworthy, no small feat by any means.
