Hello, i will try to provide an objective benchmark for CS/CEL/PS now to improve the speed of the whole,
i have release ebuild crystalspace-ps-1.1-r26674 (hard masked, so you know what to do at you own risk :) which include a script walktest.sh to run ... walktest from CS, we will try to benchmark CS with it, i will provide for each configuration: (change inside /usr/games/bin/walktest.sh)
- Perftest standard (200 frames)
- Total level load time : -norelight
- Total level load time : -relight
- Perftest standard (200 frames) : -video=software
- Total level load time : -norelight -video=software
- Total level load time :-relight -video=software
let's see:
| Machine | maxOptimization | Ghz | opengl fps| | norelight| | relight| | soft fps| | norelight soft| | relight soft| |
| P4 -O2 | No | 2.0 | ? | 10.615s | 11.579 | ? | 15.045 | 21.409 |
| Athlon XP | Yes | 2.2 | 154fps | 4.947 | 5.387 | 7.21fps | 10.138 | 9.536 |
| Athlon XP | No | 2.2 | 154fps | 5.015 | 5.441 | 7.12fps | 11.036 | 5.653 |
see you
loux
PS : better add -exec='/this/my_script' in ./walktest inside /usr/games/bin/walktest.sh and create a little my_script file inside /opt/planeshift/crystalspace/bin and put "perftest 200" and next line "quit" then save and execute walktest.sh :)

It would be interesting seeing these benchmarks being compared to the official binaries of PS ;)
