Title: What I Did
Post by: kipp on March 10, 2003, 03:03:45 pm
Finally very playable speeds on my comp!

AMD Duron 800MHz
384MB RAM
ATI Radeon 7000/VE 32MBDDR
40GB HD
Windows XP

2GB System partition  (C: )
768MB PageFile Partition (P: )
34GB Other Patition (D: )

Put a 576MB pagefile on BOTH D: and P:
Removed pagefile from C:

Now I can play the game at around 15-25 fps in Dungeon,  7-15 in plaza, 20-25 streets of town.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein also runs about 5-8 fps faster.

This was off a fresh install, NTFS file system. If you have time, try it, and let me know if your results are the same.

PS.. It pays to defrag often!

Return to Castle Wolfenstein levels are less detailed. In addition Crystal Space engined is getting improved everyday. Last, your video card is lacks some memory. Try one with 64Mb and you will see real difference.

Your computer also needs more RAM I have a GB of PC 133 RAM and it runs fine except when it begins to rain and sometimes when i look at the towers.

Yea, i understand my computer is not par with standard anymore, but it just shows that the game itself is not the only culprit for poor performance. I have set my rig to run \"faster\" and I have had much success...

A new video card and more ram would be sweet, but id prefer a faster Proccessor so that  i can get a higher L2 bus speed and added MHz :)
