/nudge: Nudges the character up a little bit. This would be useful in cases where a character is stuck in a steeply sloped piece of geometry and /unstick fails for one reason or another.
-
Would be good, but only a set amount of times you can do it to the character in a certain time span.
Don't want to see people getting nudged to their death too much :P
-
Yes this command will be useful if its implented. i dont remember how many times i asked a gm to move me a little bit :-X and i dont think gms has only moving players as work, i mean they have better work to do ^^

Truly great idea. It should be used when the charakter collision detection will be finally implemented to preven players for blocking narrow places. But fo exple it should be impossible to nudge too strong or too loaded charakters. Great Idea \\o//

Well I think only the person stuck may use nudge, as other wise it could be abused, say if someone is standing or sitting on a ledge overlooking hydlaa, someone sneaks up and /nudges them and whaaaaaaaaaathump..
However if someone could nudge themselves, and it would like, wiggle them around that would work.
(Just a side note, most of the time when you get stuck, press the auto run button instead of /unstick, most of the time this works and you'll be freed)

Hey! I like the nudging!
Don't take the nudging away from me!

If someone sat on a ledge in real life...

@Earl_Listbard: /nudge is only intended to apply to the player using it. Also, thanks for the tip with the auto-run button!

Won't you get "Cat Scratch Fever" from the Nudge? Or just if you nudge an Enki.... I think that while this would be a good work-around a better fix would be that you just slide off any area you cannot properly move on as if it was a frictionless surface. That would likely take much work unless there was some way to automate detection and editing of such areas. I think it happens because there are pockets of viable ground within areas of unviable ground. That said I have no idea how you could make this work with the planned climbing skill.

oh, wrong nudge. :whistling:
-
Perhaps this should require consent from the target.
-
Well the original idea was an alteration of the /unstick and it appears would be self-activated. When collision detection becomes the rule it should be possible to bump another character depending on relative size and strength.

How do you plan to prevent such a feature from being abused?
-
I do not. I think it is realistic. Perhaps three bumps in a row could trigger pvp and allow the bumped a free attack which if untaken for a set period negates the pvp and the bumper only gets pvp status if the free attack is taken. Do you have a problem with collision detection or just nudging people with it? I have the feeling collision detection is inevitable but far down the road. As for narrow passages in the DR, spiral paths and broken catwalks, just make them semi-solid so that if you stop moving you start sinking until at some point you fall through to your death.
I'm getting a little far off topic so I'll "Say no more, nudge nudge, wink wink. Know what I mean?"
-
I'm not sure your reasons are adequate. There are plenty of things which are "realistic" and yet will never be allowed in PS.
-
@bilbous: this command is for nudging yourself IG... :whistling:

Why not just fix the crummy collision detection? That sounds like a better wish to me.

narure, don't act like an fool. Thats no doubt much easier said then done.

Are you volunteering?:)

Well obviously not but there is going to have to be a point where it is fixed so there isnt much point implementing features just to work around it. /unstick is good for testing the game while it is in this Beta stage and when that doesnt work we get GMs to move us. If we implement somthing because hte /unstick doesnt always work we will soon find that that new thing wont always work. Fix the collision detection or fix the /unstick, by implenting yet another work around they are creating more work for themselves.

There are times when /unstick doesn't help you and you have to use /die unless you find a GM who's in a good mood and is willing to nudge you to freedom.
-
I've never really had a problem with a GM not moving me. People tend not to get stuck if they just keep their feet on the ground and watch where they are going. When ever ive got stuck and /unstick hasnt helped I accept it was because I was leaping about or not watching my character.

You're in the minority. It depends on who answers the petition, but I've had GMs tell me to bugger off even if I'm stuck due to a bug. One even killed me without asking if it was ok to send me to the death realm.

Use /who game master. /tell.

Use /who game master. /tell.
I do.

I've only ever asked to be moved once and that was because my character would not load for some reason. If I get stuck in the geometry for any reason I just suck it up and /die. Why should it be the gm's job move you just because you found a way to go where you shouldn't have?
Oh wait, I did ask one other time when I was showing a GM a glitch he could not see in the BD. He told me he did not have that ability so I went ahead and fell off the earth anyway just to prove my point.
