Nothing wrong with 9, except that we're not converting to it yet as a team :) Do you mean a hollow cone, or one with a concave bend to its form?

Taper can be dropped onto an item from the Modifier List.

modifier menu > object (in this instance, its a cone) > under the sides prompt, its a check button

also:  prob:  every once in a while, i start seeing my camera and my mouse wheel wont zoom it, i cant move the camera around my pic and it strafes slowly..wtf?  it aint a bug, it must be a feature of some sort but how am i provoking it?

*edit*

ok..how do i check the angle with a taper?  i want to hook something onto it properly angled

Don't double-post please, use the Modify button if no one has replied yet.

Looks like smooth plays with the Smoothing Groups (http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/530/0016gf3.gif). This is something that you could test out on your own, so try that out next time :) It's faster than waiting for an answer on a forum.

You create a camera by hitting CTRL+B - perhaps that's what you're doing? You can delete it by hitting the Delete key.

The "Curve" setting determines how concave your object is. Play around with it.

(I've also split your thread - it's no longer pertaining to contribution, but addresses modeling problems.)
