Greetings :sorcerer:
I recently learned about your game via my home forums (computers, politics, etc.) and I must say that I am quite intrigued.
I've been a gamer for many years now but WoW has got me going all :@#\
I think that WoW is too good for it's own good. (attracts all sorts of undesirables) . Anyways I am excited to try PS because the story is honestly quite original and I really like the fact that it's free (no pressure to feel like I need to get my subscription fee out of it, plus I believe it is less likely to encounter "industrial farmers").
Enough about that. :offtopic:
My question is: I recently downloaded the v. 1.x.18 client and installed. Although I understand that v. 1.x.19 client will soon be released will I have to uninstall 18 and intsall 19 OR can I use the update patcher as the new client is released?
Also, I am a Linux user (Ubuntu Feisty Fawn) and I had to run installation twice because the first attempt placed executor restrictions on the desktop icons. The second install I opted to not install the desktop icons but currently am only able to access the game client via the patch module. Is there a way to install the desktop icons which do not require root permission to execute?
Thanks all! ;)

Greetings,
Well you have a few options. One thing is for certain now though - your current client will not work when it comes to the .019 release when it goes public, and I"m not certain that the updater will work. Its had problems recently which are being fixed in this release I have heard, but I am unsure whether or not that means you can update for .019 or not. You can do 1 of 2 things. The first is to download the new official binary when it is released. The other is to go to either the official build guide, or my own feisty guide: http://vaalnor.mine.nu/psdoc/?q=node/43 (http://vaalnor.mine.nu/psdoc/?q=node/43) and compile your own version so you will be ready when the server goes live. Its not as difficult as it sounds and the instructions take you in step by step.
Good luck and hope to see you in game!
