Title: (In)Famous Internet Dossiers

Part 1: Linux Torvalds

There is a reason Bill doesn't post much, as it could lead into a public relations disaster for M$... Linuxers could use anything flammable that he posted against him :whistling:

However open-source devs don't care about PR. But before mentioning the less bright moments of this famous individual, I would like to remember you that he did more than just posting some flames about Gnome or about MINIX, and to point to something said in a *cough* Wikipedia article linked below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flame_war#Extended_use_of_the_term_.22flame_war.22 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flame_war#Extended_use_of_the_term_.22flame_war.22)

As said there, sometimes technical discussions may be wrongly classified as flame wars even though they bring several useful points as they tend to have some emotional outbreaks as well, of course discussions aways have an isolated flame here and there, but this one, for people who study OSes, has some usefulness for example. Below is the transcription of it:

Linus Torvalds Vs. Andrew S. Tanenbaum (http://www.dina.dk/~abraham/Linus_vs_Tanenbaum.html)

Perhaps there are even other "pearls" in the middle of the ocean of flames... some people "awarded" him as the "Troll of the Year" after the following thing:

Linus said once that "Gnome users are all stupid idiots" and that the Gnome devs are "interface nazis" as shown below:

http://www.osnews.com/story.php/12956/Torvalds-Use-KDE (http://www.osnews.com/story.php/12956/Torvalds-Use-KDE)

Now time to see if other people here know about famous people who made flames on the net...

P.S.: If this thread becomes good enough, I'll mail it to the editorial of "The Sun" to see if they would like to publish it :P
