Pale Blue Dot. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p86BPM1GV8M&mode=related&search=)
This darn near brought me to tears. It does every time I read it. If people could only realise this sort of thing maybe we could set aside some differences in favour of common good.

Existentialism ftw!

In retrospect that title seems quite cheesy. Oh well. Anyway, I seriously recomend looking up other vidieos. One of our greatest minds of recent times without a doubt. And yes, existentialism is the way to go. The term has been used so much that it has quite lost its original meaning at this stage though. Look up some Satre while you're at it I suppose.

I am in a crossroad between nihilism and existencialism.

The complete works of Shakespeare > A pair of boots.

Nihilism? Oh goodness. I guess we'd be at opposite ends then, me being more humanist.
On a side note, I wonder how much of this just looks like gibberish to other members of the forums.

Well, it does to me. Never been a fan of philosophy, 5000 years of it and they havent actually given us a definative answer about any of the big questions. Frankly I dont see much point in it myself.
[Edit] Just for those who have slow connections, this LINK (http://seticlassic.ssl.berkeley.edu/pale_blue_dot.html) has the text version of the audio from the 'video'

Philosophy has given answers but once these answers are given it moves from the realm of philosophy into science. Mathamatics, astronomy, antropology etc. were all aspects of philosophy untill they became more definate. I reccomend Bertrand Russell's The Value of Philosophy. In fact the entire scientific method is based on skeptical, analytical and empirical philosophy.

Pure truth. He is right.People arent gona find some miraculous planet to live on in the next few millenia (is that how its spelled) and unless they learn to live together earth and humanity are gona go together because of endless wars.

I would not call that existentialist, I would call it extremely pessimistic claptrap. If you want to wallow in that kind of "the cup is half empty" rhetoric be my guest. You might as well say that humans are a blight on the Earth and ought to be exterminated.
Anyway, I am expecting the dinosaurs to come back and evict the squatter monkeys any day now.

"the cup is half empty"
The cup is twice the size it needs to be ;)

Hehe. Not likely, with the whole evolution rather devolution. Cold blooded animals would be screwed with the climate fluctuating more and more.

What? Did you watch the video. Its entire point was to not destroy our hope. I think if anything its optimistic.

No, I read the quote Idoru linked.
