This was my first experience with maya and, for the most part, modeling in general. It is a dwarven forge.

Holy crap, dude (http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/6632/grinby0.gif) We need to get you modeling for PS, stat.
How do you like Maya? I hear it's ridiculously simpler to UV map / texture there than in max.

Really nice work! However i think those tables could look a little more worn out. Keep up the good work!

wow :)
very nice, keep it up,

Ye know....
I really hate it when people make stuff that looks better then mine on their first attempt.
Keep it up though....
I like da drool! \\o//

Holy crap, dude
Took the words out of my mouth.
Wow. I've been trying to work out Maya for ages now and I've never come even close to anything remotely like that. Using Maya controls, I can't even understand how you managed to do that.

Reminds me that perhaps I should try some mapping myself again, using another tool that I find easier to use myself(UnrealED), and about it, quite well done for a first try. I don't know why all the 3d modelling software that I tried seem so clumsy to me(or perhaps I am clumsy to use them), I think I can do better even with an old mapping tool for Duke Nukem 3D. ???
Of course I doubt I would do anything at all without textures ready for use...

hehe maybe go for a quake editor ;) remember the map i made for quake that was inspired by ps?
and a very nice pic Gentar very nice :D

That scene looks terrific Gentar, well done!

Indeed very good, Gentar! I think the sword should have more specular, but it's just a detail, and in the end you're the artist and can make what you want!
-
how many years of school do you need to do that? because i cant take another 4 years of uni.... good work man
-
pffft, you people call THAT good? Honestly my 5yo cousin could do a better job. I expected more from you Gentar and... and... well... I'm going to cry now :'(
fine... I SUPPOSE it looks somewhat good... *sigh* ok fine... AWESOME FRICKING JOB DUDE! You make it seem easy. \\o//

As I was reading that I was thinking about hunting you down and unmercifully murdering you.

I don't know about that. Perhaps I just haven't used mayas uv mapping tools enough, but I find them clunkier than max's. The whole cut uv's/unwrap thing is a nice idea, but it just doesn't work as predictably as simple planar mapping. Plus, if you use turbo unwrap for max instead of the stock unwrap uvw it really makes max's tools pretty bearable.
As for the modeling, it looks pretty nice Gentar. Could use some piles of junk and tools on the wall to add some more interest. Maybe try getting some sort of structural stuff in the ceiling too, instead of just flat tiles. Looks good though, I like the forge setup.
