Title: Windows to fade in when active and fade out when inactive.
Post by: zanzibar on June 08, 2007, 01:49:13 am
Basically, I would like my chat screen to disapear unless it gets activity.  I would like my character stats window to disapear unless I take damage or drink a health potion.  I would like my buddy list to disapear unless someone signs on or off.  It would be another step towards making the game more immersive by making the screen less cluttered.

I recognize the difficulty in coding such a feature, but it would be nice.

How do you propose you would get them back?  By clicking on the appropriate icon (in the case of stats window, inventory, etc)?   The alternative being they fade out so you can see through them, but remain there so you can get them back by simply mousing over the area where they were... but I suppose that could get annoying.
So basically the windows would toggle off after a set time of inactivity, and then toggle back on when activated.
I think its a good idea, because the interface does really get very cluttered at the moment.

I agree with it, as long as it is an option rather than a mandatory element of the default interface, just like those "Fade in/Fade out" options for the GUI. Because it might get annoying to see a GUI flashing constantly on periods of intense activity of the same(combat, active roleplaying conversations, etc.)

I assume it would take some time before fading in and out, so it wouldn't be doing this.  (Like 10 seconds or so, or something specified by the user).
